I am 3 months pregnant. I have 2 yrs of college. I want to ultimately be an fnp in public/community health. Should I

    A) Finish bsn prereqs. Go for bsn. Work as RN then do msn.

    B) Get bachelors in non-nursing field. Go for aa in physical therapy assisting.. Work as pta and apply to entry level msn.

Finish your BSN then apply to a FNP program. The second option seems to be a lot of additional work.

Agree with CCRN... focus on being a nurse. It will be the most beneficial to you.

Im actually going to finish an online degree in accounting. Maybe one day in the.future ill pursue a entry level msn. But for now with the pregnancy im going to give the accounting a shot.

You have to be very passionate about nursing to make it worthwhile. For those just wanting a job nursing is not the best career. Good luck in your journey.

How about ADN -> BSN -> MSN? If you're going to be a mom, the ADN option first might suit you best.

Unlicensed 06, that's a great route. I attended school for my ADN when my daughter was 9 months old...I'm just now getting my BSN online and plan to go on for my master's. ADN programs are a great way to get started. I wish you well and certainly meant no offense to you. Best wishes with your pregnancy AND career path.

Thanks i truly dont prefer accounting. Im in northern ca and the state school bsn programs are so competitive my measly cumulative 3.0 gpa wont stack up. Im afraid i wont get in to the lottery adn programs around here but i know theres only one way to find out. Im thinking about trying samuel merrit but its so expensive im not sure ill even be able to get enough loans to cover tuition

I applied to start at cal state east bay this january for prereqs, which is my first choice bsn school. Im trying to decide if i should still do take my prereqs there or at my local community college which will save me money and commute time.

Any thoughts? Thanks for the replies so far, i didnt mean to come off snapy if i did. Ive been thinking this subject to death. I really want to be a nurse but it seems almost impossible.
