Holy moly! I got accepted into OHSU's first AG-ACNP program!!!!!!! Ahhh!!! (Excuse my freaking out- I did not expect to get admitted!!). Now what do I do?! The program starts in 3 weeks!! I live 1,050 miles away...married with 3 kids and a full time job. How do we move in 3 weeks?!?

Congratulations!!! Is there an online component to this program?

Nope- it's on campus (which is what I want...just happening very fast). (I think a couple classes might be online- but the program is designed to be on campus.)

Can you defer until a spring start date?

Specializes in ICU.

Nope- they only have fall starts. I really want to go...just trying to figure out the logistics of moving so quickly! It's a bit scary!!

How are you doing with your decision regarding school? Are your kids young? Does your husband have a job he can leave? Just wondering about the rest of the family and how they will adjust to a big move.

I'm set on going...it's the "opportunity of a lifetime" for me! Still struggling with such a fast move though. My kids are young- 10, 7 and 1. My 7 year old cries every time we talk about it...but I think she'll adjust faster than the rest of us (she's very social)! My hubby can easily leave or transfer with his job (he's mostly a stay-at-home dad...just works part time around my schedule). He'll be stuck doing most of the move. Notified my boss last night- making the decision more real!

Congrats. Did you get in the masters program or the DNP?

NucRN- the master's ACNP!

Nice. Guess I will be seeing you on campus. I got into the DNP program. Nervous!

That's great!! Congrats!! Was the DNP app just as fast as the MSN? Did you just barely find out too?

Are you already in Portland? If so- can you tell me good/bad areas to live (safe for a family)?

Yeah I was born and raised in portland. Currently an Anticoag RN at a clinic. Just found out on Friday.

Everything did move really fast for me. I took my GRE on 08/24 and finished my stats final before Labor Day. Will need to put in my two weeks tomorrow!

Portland rental market is really tough. Traffic is horrendous. I would say, save some time by looking for rental homes in SW portland or Beaverton Oregon. In general, you would save some time living near down town or at least on the same side of the river.

You mostly likely will have to use public transportation, which is relatively quick and reliable. Rental is anywhere from 1800-2500 for a nice home.

Hope this helps.
