ON-line NP programs

HI folks,

I am new here. I been reviewing these threads for a while now, but finally decided to join and post a thread. I am completing my BSN so that I can get into a master's program. I plan on becoming an adult health nurse practitioner. Because of where I live and the fact that I have small children I am looking for an on-line program. I have looked at several and am looking for advise and thougths from everyone. I am looking at Seton Hall, St. Louis Univiersity, Ohio State University, St. Francis Univeristy, and George Washington Univeristy. Does anyone know of any others as well. I still have one more year to finish the BSN so I am starting early in my search for the right NP program.

Hi there and wow that must feel so cool to know that you are soon to be finished with your BSN (smile)

There is a cool website you might not know about. It is www.Petersons.com and it has hundreds of online or distance type of educational programs in nursing.

I obtained my BSN from California State University, Dominquez Hills. They do not require any type of on-site stay and they offer MSN and Nurse Practitioner: www.csudh.edu/msn/msnfaq.htm

I am presently attending State University at Stony Brook (Long Island, New York). They offer many types of Nurse Practitioner programs: http://sonce1.nursing.sunysb.edu/nursingweb.nsf/Main?OpenForm This program does require you to attend a three day workshop, but that is their only requirement.

Thanks so much for your input. I looked at both sites. They look like they offer FNP. I am looking for Adult Health Preferablely.

I am enrolled in university of Indiana online. It is 100% online. It is very reasonable priced per credit hour; the best deal I found and it is NLN approved. The courses are rigorous so it is a good program

I located this last night ( www.indstate.edu/distance/nursing.html ) but wasn't sure if this is the program you were refering to or not.

May I ask which MSN track you are on, how far into it are you, and how competitive was it for admission? Also, did they require the GRE for entrance?

I don't think ISU has an Adult NP program--only FNP and adult health. You might want to check out Ball State (also in Indiana) Part time, no on campus required, and no thesis required--only optional if you like root canals. I think its $360 per unit at 48 units.

Hi Ken, I just finished my first semester at ISU in the FNP program. I don't actually know how competitive their admissions are, but I was thrilled to know I didn't have to take the GRE for admission. They also only charge in-state tuition to fully online students... talk about a great incentive!

I'm new to forum and just saw your post. I just completed my first graduate course online. If you haven't found an online school, look at The University of South Alabama. Their programs are all online, accredited and no GRE required. Tuition is reasonable, It's around $247 per credit hour. I'm not sure if they have Adult Health specifically.
