Johns Hopkins BSN - DNP Fall 2018

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Is anybody applying to the DNP program at Johns Hopkins University for the Fall 2018 term? Has anybody heard anything? or how difficult is it to get in the program? average GPA?

Congrats BSNnurse8!

Specializes in Pediatric ED, PICU, Simulation Education.

Pretty much the same boat as everyone else. I got that mail on January 11, so I got until next week to decide. I'm also waiting for other schools to respond, but some of them are not going to send out acceptances until March or April. Costs and moving are big factors for me as well (I'm from Florida). I attended their online financial aid webinar and it was just a big talk about "loans". I do want to visit the campus and also speak to previous/current students in the program to see what their views are about JHU. I feel like I've stalked allnurses for forums, but I'm still getting mixed answers.

Right now I am contemplating if I should go for my MSN-FNP and then pursue a doctorate while working as an FNP and be able to pay for a DNP program......I am also waiting in two other schools. One is a masters the other is a DNP as well.

I paid the deposit to hold my spot. I applied to one other DNP program but decisions won't be released until March. I'm going to try and schedule a visit to the campus in March for a tour and see if I can talk to any current students.

Placing my deposit today as well. Let me know how your tour goes!

By any chance, do you know when exactly we are expected to move to Baltimore for classes if we are accepted for the 4 yr plan?

You have to be in Baltimore by the semester when you take Advanced Physical Assessment. At least that's what it said for the AG primary care DNP track. The curriculum for 3 and 4 year are posted on the JHU website for each specialty track.

I probably won't be able to go until early March. I'll let you know how it goes!

Hi neverlands, RN. I got contacted via email and phone on the friday before christmas. still trying to figure out how to prepare for the interview. I believe it is an all day event on campus with faculty and current students

Hi, Calimurse! I got invited to the interview for the DNP/PhD program just this week! How exciting!

I start preparing for the interview and try to figure out what kind of questions DNP program and PhD program might ask separately and organize them together. If you want, perhaps we can help each others on this! (I've sent you a private message through allnurses, not quite sure how it works...)

Good luck and hope to see you there!

Okay if that's so I won't have officially move until next fall! That would help a lot. Thanks so much!

Does anyone know when the summer semester starts in may?

I think it's mid May! But the classes will be online! Need to be in Baltimore before Fall semester starts!
