Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

I am a full time nurse manager and a Part time FNP student. I have my plate full and my head is spinning half of the time b/c i am so busy or stressed with work or school. Does anyone have a management job or alot of responisbility and go to school part time. Is this feasible? I am thinking it isn't . I work 40 + hrs a week and it is killing me to come home and study after work...I want school as #1 do you think I need to step down or work less hours..???Advice please

Specializes in Anesthesia.

I am active duty military about to be deployed and a graduate nursing student. Most of my military nursing colleagues have maintained their normal jobs, even deployed and still found time to continue to working on their MSN even their MSN/FNP. It is a pain in the butt.......but if that is what you want to do I think it is worth it.....

Good Luck!

I work 2 12s, nights; single mom, 3 kids, homeschool 2, Boy Scout Ast. Scoutmaster, Girl Scout leader, "Mom's taxi" driver, take Tae Kwon Do, etc. So, I only take one class at a time, on line so I can do the hours whenever I have time. Will your job let you cut back your hours? My hosp. has partial tuition reimbursement, would that help if you cut back your hours? Good luck!

I also long with 3 of my other friends work and go to school. Some times we don't get the best grades but right now all of us are single with bills to pay so we do what we have to. I have been a nurse for 3 years and before that i was a nursing aide while giong through school. I actually think it's important to have some clinical experince before you enter nursing so that you know what you are getting into. All I can say to you for hope is just keep trying, it's bound to get better.:lol2:

I do have a question though, I am a LPN working towards my RN. I am enrolled in classes in a local college but I was wondering if anyone knew of a good on line course for LPN to Rn. It's really getting hard to rearrange my work and school schedule. so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated:Present1:

i have heard excellent things about deaconess college in st. louis for LPN-RN online.

I also work full time and I go to school full time (grad school FNP). It is hard to balance work, school, and family. A good support system is a must. Stress is just reality, patience is a virtue that will help you. School is so important at this time that I just made it a priority along with my family. And I make sleep a reward to myself because it is rare to get more than 6 full hours of sleep.

I work every Sat/Sun 12 hours and at times 16. I take 2 classes at a time but am considering going full time to school Fall 2006 when my last son attends all day kindergarten. I, too, am a single mom of 4 boys- 15, 13, 7, 5. I try and not to think of how I get everything done on a daily basis....just the gold pot at the end of the rainbow.

Specializes in primary care, pediatrics, OB/GYN, NICU.

I'm so glad someone defined that "6 hrs of grad school is the equivalent of a 30 hr workweek". I work 30 hours per week in an urgent care clinic and I am in an FNP/MSN program taking 6-8 hours per term. I am married and have 3 kids.No wonder I feel like all I do is work and study! But I know it will be worth it in the end. I actually thought getting my BSN was a lot more stressful and I went to school full time and didn't work.

:blushkiss Aw shucks, thanks. I do have fun! And my mother thinks I do too much, so she pays for a housekeeper once a week. Give credit where credit is due!

You read my mind. Wow, that is one full plate. I am inspired as well:wink2:

I'm employed PT at a LTC facility with ppl with dementia and Alzheimer's. However, they are always so short handed that I usually end up working close to 40 hours per week. I usually take only 2 classes a semester. I can't afford to not work and go to school. I married for love instead of money, lol.
