if your main goal for taking up nursing is to work abroad, think again, unless you have permanent residency or citizenship abroad. you probably know by now the unemployment of nurses in the Philippines so you won't even get a chance to practise nursing in the Philippines and get experience for abroad. And, nursing shortage, pretty much around the world, is eased. Countries are slowly "shutting down" on foreign nurses.

you should take nursing because it's your passion not for economic reason.

Kabayan, as a young man, look into the courses outside of nursing is my best advice.

Check with the CHED and they will tell you, there's now over 500,000 unemployed nurses in the Phils alone. Read over the PH forum Nursing tab and read how many still after 2-3-4 years are still looking for their very first working job!

Read this article below if you have any plans to work abroad, read the other comments with those thoughts. But do read what some other possible options are for you in the same article other than becoming a nurse.

The demand for many PH nurses in other countries are not like years passed. Many of the countries are hiring the local residents, they are filling up the supply line faster than there are demands, with many of the same locals unable to find nursing jobs. There are more of the other countries graduating more of their local students and hiring preferences to those that did their clinicals in their own hospitals.

I know it's unpleasant, but to put it bluntly, you just missed the boat. Forget about nursing and coming here to the USA, that's not gonna happen. Choose your heart's course and be happy instead.

if your sole motivation for taking nursing is working abroad, I suggest do not take nursing. You probably can go abroad if you're lucky to find a relevant experience in hospitals soon after you graduate and get an RN license but that's the thing, it's not easy to find a hospital to work for as a nurse.

Why not take tourism, hrm, IT or com sci instead?

Filipino Nurses are still in demand elsewhere. While it's ultra tough to get a job offer from US Employers nowadays, countries like UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, KSA, OMAN, Lebanon, Singapore, Japan, UK, Germany, Australia, New Zealand and Canada are hiring thousands of "experienced" nurses to fill in health care posts.
