Should I go to ADN nursing school in Pa or Tx?

I am at a cross roads. I have a teenage daughter in PA, I feel guilty and sad that I chose to miss so many years with her. I have been living primarily in TX for the past (7) years, I really like the culture here, for the most part. I love the diversity of cultures, Asian, American, Mexican, Eastern European, etc. I really love TX, but I got accepted to the ADN program in PA first. My teenage daughter would be heart-broken :crying2:, if I don't come home to be with her for her last year of high school. She really needs her mother's arms around her, and not the Sprint telephone at her ear, and I really need her too. Futhermore, I don't really know how to evaluate one nursing program vs. another. I am somewhat familiar with hospitals in both cities. What would you do??? :confused: :confused: :confused:

You may not like the answer but, how could you miss your daughters last years of high school,especially when she voices that she misses her mom?!?! Come on, nursing will be there for you in Texas again(I was there, and did not like Texas,just me),and trust me on this,you will regret not being there. If you take care of your patients well, then just think how you could take care of her.Come to Pennsylvania,its a beautiful state,and there are jobs everywhere!:o

Sounds like 2 seperate issues here, daughter vs. texas. For me I would choose my child but it is your decision. One the other hand, after living here in PA for 7 yrs I would love to get out, TX has no state tax, lower overall taxes, much better pay and great opportunities. Is it possible for your daughter to move to TX? Tough decision you are facing, good luck.

I decided to stay in TX. I am bringing her down for the summer. She will take Micro, or A&P, or Psych, or some pre-req. I am also planning for her to take a (2) night CPR class that I can attend with her. I thought about this deeply, and realized that I do want to stay, and pursue work in TX. She is disappointed in my decision, and I am sad to disappoint her, but I think that we can work around this for (12) months. I will be an AA frequent flyer, my target is to go to PA to visit her once a month, that will provide more continuity than we have been having. I want her to go to nursing school here in TX too. That is of course what mom wants. I will have to see how it shakes out.
