LaSalle Achieve Fall 2013

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

For years, I was reluctant to apply to LaSalle while finishing my pre-reqs at CCP. I guess I was intimidated, countless people told me to apply...but I put it off, fearing rejection. May 2012, I finally applied...studied for the NLN on-and-off the entire summer...received a high overall score on the entrance exam over 100... Sci. GPA of 3.25, Overall: 3.13. Received my "Congratulations/favorable consideration letter" from LaSalle in Sept (2012) and have been living vicariously through current students in the program now.

I have signed up for the last of my required pre-reqs at LaSalle so I can get a "feel" of their grading style and going to a large university. I know the official nursing acceptance letters won't go out until May 2013, and I shouldn't get my hopes up ...but I've worked so hard (and will continue to!) and hope that things will continue to work out favorably.

Has anyone else received their "Congratulations/favorable consideration letter"? Does that letter mean, if we continue on doing well and meet the required deadlines...that it "should" work out in our favor? Oh the anxiety...well I'll be practicing my conversions and studying.

Take away message: Don't get in your own way...and everything and anything is possible if you give it your all!

Intending Nursing, Fall 2013

i dont really care abt them at this stage, whether they accept or not am already at ccp here and it is almost the same length.

What school did you choose?

Okay, why do you think it is not going well for you

Because I feel as though my program is intented for ppl that's already in healthcare they are moving at a fast pace and expect ppl to know this stuff. I never had any experience in healthcare. I failed to test and I'm afraid to take the third one. This is all new to me. Maybe I should have accepted gmc weekend program for ppl with a non nursing degree.

Because I feel as though my program is intented for ppl that's already in healthcare they are moving at a fast pace and expect ppl to know this stuff. I never had any experience in healthcare. I failed two tests and I'm afraid to take the third one. This is all new to me. Maybe I should have accepted gmc weekend program for ppl with a non nursing degree.

I actually graduated and i am a rn.

Dont hesitate to ask for help.

Good luck.

Nursing school is something that is very difficult and a huge commitment. I am graduating this December from La Salle. There were many people is my class who had major life events and progressed. There were some who didn't pass in their senior year.No program is going to be easy and if they make it easy for you run! Ultimately the goal is to become a nurse. Someone's life will be in your hands and you will need and want those qualifications to help them. Yes there are associates programs, but you will not be hired at a magnet hospital. Most new graduate associate nurses find jobs at nursing homes and small community hospitals. We had many people who were "non medical" and they did just fine.

As far as the accreditation is concerned at La Salle there are no issues at this time and they have changed the issues that placed them on probation. The current classes have testing scores that have exceeded previous alumni.

One word of advice for those attending. Make sure you stay on too of them. If you don't hear back, call. If they don't answer stop by. There have been some recent changes with administrative staff, but the professors are awesome and know their stuff.

Good luck!

Almost 19 months since my initial post...time flies. Life in LaSalle's Achieve Nursing program is never dull! They have put in place so many parameters to make sure that we do well on the boards. This transition is not easy, on the staff or students. Nursing school is not a stroll in the park. It's hard work, sweat, and tears. Some days you feel as though you are swimming and others, sinking. I am a non medical students....I work HARD to maintain my grades. There are students that are cool with C's and that wont cut it in the long run...especially since we have to maintain a 2.75. You just have to figure out a way to study...and not just skim pages but really take time out and STUDY. I feel like with a great RN student support group, caring teachers, and a support system at home...this program is doable! Unfortunately if you are not getting the grades you want...don't blame the teacher...this is your life...your destiny! Don't let anything get in your dreams!

This was the best program for working people! They are known for their instructors and clinical sites. Job placement is good bc bsn and bc of school rep. You have to buy your everything on your own. Books. Uniforms. Stethoscopes. Etc. They raised their gap and requirements when i left. They require C+ in all nursing courses with a minimum gpa of 2.75 per semester. Which means if you do not achieve that minimum that semester. You would have to repeat. They are raising the bar for nursing bc lasalle was on provision for the 2 years I was there. Good luck to everyone going to lasalle.
