CCAC Spring 2014 Applicants

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

Applications are due on August 15th so I wanted to start the thread for all of us hoping to get in for the Spring 2014 semester! I'm currently taking Bio 110 (my last pre-req) and will send my application for Allegheny Evenings in on Thursday when my class is over. I have a BSBA already so I have all of the co-reqs done except Micro, A&P 1 &2. I probably won't get in because of it but my GPA is pretty decent so it's worth a shot anyway! Plus, with the changes in the point system it might work out. I'm taking Micro and A&P 1 this fall. I don't plan on applying anywhere else.

Anyone else? What are your stats? What campus did you select? Do you have any questions for the community?

Good Luck!

I also applied for CCAC 2014 Spring nursing. I have a gpa of 3.79 when you add the bonus points for taking the ap 1&2, and micro. I have applied last semester and didn't get in. I was told that this year there are only 360 seats and they don't have as many people apply as last semester. Also the cut off last semester was a 4.5 gpa (think that's why the changed the point system). I have applied the the day program for Allegheny and South.

Hey Cole04! Wow 360 seats isn't that many. I'm interested to see how this point change effects everyone.

Don't always believe everything you hear about previous classes. It seems like admissions at CCAC are very ebb and flow. I know when I first started pre-reqs two years ago about 75% of my AandP1 class was already in the nursing program. The following year they extended the application process due to lack of qualified applicants. Then when I applied they had a record number of applicants that were extremely competitive. The biggest factor is the extra points (at least it was last application period), I don't know ANYONE who got in with out having at least two of their sciences done.

Side Note: The people that I spoke to about sciences were in the fast track program, it may be different for other campuses.

I also applied to the Spring 2014 Program. I have a 3.75 GPA and I have all classes completed except for AP2 and micro which i am taking in the fall starting Aug 19. I got an A in AP1 which gives me a 4.5 even with the added points. I also already have a BA degree in Psycholgy. I put Allegheny Day as my first choice and boyce Day as my second. They said they are considering academic achievement for the selection of individual candidates. If i get in I will only have just my nursing courses. And So you guys know there are only 160 seats for spring 2014 and an additional 40 only for calu students. Only Allegheny and Boyce are taking applications. Im really hoping i get in!!! This wait is killing me!!!!. Good Luck to us All!!!

I also applied about 2 weeks ago. I have my BS in Microbiology from Pitt, but gpa isn't fantastic. I took A&P1 over the summer (taking A&P2 this fall) and with those points I have a 3.75 as the lowest possible gpa. I'm not sure how they are calculating my gpa with transfer credits that arent included in my undergrad gpa. I am applying for Alleghey night classes. I will only have to take nursing classes which isn't too bad. If I don't get in this time then I will apply for Fall fast track and I will have A&P2 finished by then which will really help my gpa. Good luck to everyone!

I know in the admission packet it says if you have 12 or mor ccac credits they will use your ccac GPA exclusively. 12 or less they will make up a composite score using all other institutions. If you have more than 12 ccac credits than your transfer ones will not be used towards your GPA only ccac. I hope this helps a little

The new change in the point system should also help weed people out. I really want to see how it will effect everyone applying.

I'm really interested to see how this is going to play out also. We will see in a couple of weeks! Spring 2013 people didn't find out until the beginning of November if they got in or not. For Fall 2013 it seems like they found out about a month after the application deadline.

I Know!!:arghh: I believe it was because of the number of applicants that had applied for last spring. This new point system should make the process a lot quicker and easier. We are supposed to find out 1 1/2- 2 months from the dead line. So October 15th marks their two months!! Who knows though we may get a notification before then we just have to keep checking the mail. These next few weeks are going to drive me crazy.:nailbiting:

I just got an email from **** ****with my application receipt this morning! I immediately scanned it and sent it back. . . I'm not playing around . I'm glad I have Micro and A&P1 to keep me busy right now and not thinking about it!

I GOT IN!!!!! :yeah: I received my letter today for Boyce Campus Day!!! My second choice!!!! Its only been a month wait!!! Anyone else? Any future class mates out there???
