CCAC Fall 2014 Applicants
and when you receive your packet that's when you'll know when things are due and the deadlines. You just have to wait for your packet to come. As I mentioned earlier they will not except anything if it's dated BEFORE you received your packet they want everything up to date and accurate.

You will have to get your titers drawn to see what you need and don't need, that's what my doctor did. I had all my titers done already so the only thing I had to up load was the results showing the anti body present. My doc then had blood drawn again specifically for my Hep b and C I was non reactive to C so I uploaded those results but I did not have a vaccination for hep b. It's a three series vaccination one right there one 30 days after and 1 6 months after. I'm finally finishing my third series, so as long as they see you are in progress with it and you have things done by the date they say they are due on the website you will be fine. After the third shot you have to get blood work showing the antibody and upload that as well, and again they will set a date for when that is due. Once you get on certified profile you will see exactly everything you need to do along with all the forms you need to print and what you need to upload.

For those who were asking they will be sending you a packet in the mail with instructions about everything that needs to be done and when it needs to be done. Be prepared to pay 130$ to get started. Everything has to be uploaded to a site called certified background. They will run your background check immediately and you have to go get your finger prints done. The site will provide you with everything that is needed along with the forms to print to take to your doctors office. Be prepared to get poked and probed for blood work. They want titers, two step tb, hep b series, a physical (in which they give you the form) and I'm not sure about the flu since it's out of season. I would suggest sending out for your child act clearances now just because they may take a while but mine came in two weeks. It may be best to wait until you get the letter tho because they will tell you that if things are done BEFORE the date on the letter they will not accept it. They will also tell you the exact dates in which you can go get your drug test and from where, there is also a form on the website for this as well. Be prepared to spend at least 1500 on books for the first semester. I'm at Boyce so I'm not sure how other campuses are. They will also have a packet for scrubs and cost and where you can go to get measured so they can be ordered I spent 80 on mine along with the lab coat I have yet to wear! But it's mandatory to buy. and you only need one set because your first two semesters are clinical once a week! Shoes are all white no leather I purchased a pair of danskos but I waited to ask were they ok because some schools and instructors are funny. You'll need a watch with a second hand nothing specific a pen light and scissors as well. Hope this helps! Good luck everyone!!! Enjoy the anticipation have fun this summer live life!!!! Because once you start it doesn't stop! It's a stressful roller coaster ride! I know first hand! And am looking forward to a summer of relaxation because I am physically, mentally, and emotionally drained nursing school will do that to you lol. But it will be all worth it in the end!!!

CCAC Fall 2014 Applicants
I recieved my acceptance letter exactly 1 month after the dead line. Each semester may be diff simply because they have more applicants in the fall then the spring the cut off GPA for this spring was a 4.1. They only had 160 seats 40 at CalU 40 at allegheny and 80 at Boyce all day programs and there were 700 applicants. My gpa at the time of applying was a 3.75 (due to 2 B's in classes I took back in 07) i jumped to a 4.5 with only A&P 1 done in which I received an A for that class. I had straight A's in everything and most of my classes was transferred in from my bachelors degree I just had to complete my sciences. They really look at your grades so getting A's and B's really do count.

I'm in the day program at Boyce. We have clinical once a week. We are split into groups my group goes every Friday and the other group goes every Wednesday. Our lab and theory are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Some are long days and others are half days. The latest I have been in class was until 3pm. Our clinical the first 6 weeks was from 7:30-3:30 and our new site will be from 6:30 to 2:30. As for the fast track program I know they go through the summer. Once you start you are in school for 18 months straight with no break. For the Day program We get summers off. Since fast track is evening weekend your clinicals are mainly on weekends and your theory and labs are evenings through the week. It def keeps you busy. We did not have clinical today because of our dosage calc exam tomorrow. Everyone has to pass with at least a 92. You get two chances to take it and if you don't pass they will let you go. We have lost a lot of people. We started with 80 and we a pretty low. The instructors are not as bad as people were making them out to be although there is this one everyone can not stand but for the most part they are very helpful some are motivational others are very hard to deal with but it's def manageable. I work 3 twelves every weekend in a hospital and it works perfect with my school schedule. It can be done. It's a little crazy in the beginning, the test are a lot different than what we are used to but things have gotten better. Be prepared at orientation to buy your books and begin your readings that was a shock to everyone in my class. And make sure you do everything that needs to be done on certified profile, it's best to get started right when you get your acceptance letter. Oh and be prepared to pay 130$ For it they will take for ever to send you your packet!!! Certified profile is a site where you do your background check, finger prints and medical records(Shots, tb, etc) Everything is web enhanced at Boyce. All our assignments are online. It's a really nice program. I love it but everyone's experience is diff. It's a challenge and dedication is key. Nothing but studying is all you have time for since they are testing us every dang week! Remediations aren't fun. But you'll hear more about those once you get in! Oh and be prepared to spend at least 1400$ on books! Good luck to you all. Let me know if you have any other questions!!!

CCAC Fall 2014 Applicants
Hi everyone!!! I am currently in ccac Boyce nursing program!!! I can say this far it has been a boat ride!!! I applied with a 3.7 gpa with only A&P 1 done to give those hope who don't have everything done it is possible to still get in!!! Boyce is an excellent program everything is web enhanced and very helpful when it comes to exams!!! I heard we are the only campus using the web!!! The only stressor is that we have an exam every week (that's at Boyce day not sure about other campuses)! But listen enjoy your anticipation and your time before you get in! Because once your in you have no time for anything but studying. Dedication is the only way you will pass!! So many people dropped already and we started with 80 students we are down to about 65 give or take. Good Luck to you all applying. I'm sure you guys will get in!!

CCAC Nursing Spring 2014 Hopefuls
Thanks so much for all the info!!! Classes start Monday and I'm very excited and nervous too! We have orientation this Thursday and im hoping they will let us know where our clinical site will be since our class schedule still says TBA!!! I have decided to wait on shoes and ask what is acceptable at orientation Im hearing many different things. I have a co worker who started on my job a few months ago and she will be graduationg from the program this spring. She gave me the Fundamentals of Nursing textbook and told me to begin reading, in which I have. She also gave me all the ATI books as well. she said its best to always read ahead. During registration me and 3 other friends made sure we registered for the same class and clinical which was so nice!!! Hopefully we can do that for the whole program if we are lucky again!!!! Its nice to know we will have a little study group to help each other!! I'm so ready to embark on the future that awaits me. @Nellie I work in a hospital doing 3 twelve's a week. I work every weekend, and now every Wednesday to accommodate my class schedule. 3 twelve's is the way to go!! Working every weekend doing twelve's free up more days through the week. And being that I don't have class on Wednesdays I work my 3rd twelve that day. Not sure of where you work and whether or not your job accommodates your school schedule but Good Luck with everything!! Oh And what's your class schedule?! I'm in option #2. Maybe we are classmates :-)

Thanks for the response! I'm completely done with everything on certified profile I'm just waiting to take my drug test! I picked my scrubs up from the uniform store the other day. Surprisingly they came in 4 days. I have my stethoscope, pin light, watch, and scissors just waiting to get my shoes! We actually got our schedules last week! Clinical does say tba. I'm very excited and prepared for the stresses of nursing school and am far ready! I'm always up for a challenge and willing to fight because I know it will be all worth it in the end! I am going to embrace this opportunity and stay positive because not too many are as fortunate! Thanks for the feed back. Can you let me know what exactly we will be doing at orientation?!

CCAC Nursing Spring 2014 Hopefuls
How's everything going? I'm done with everything. All I have to do now is upload everything to the profile. I'm waiting for my clearances and finger prints to get back I did my finger prints today and I had to 5$ extra just for them to give me proof they were done for just in case purposes. I can finally relax a little before registration! Hope everything is going well!!

CCAC Nursing Spring 2014 Hopefuls
Yea I waited to get mine done because you have to get them done through the certified profile they wouldn't have been good any way. I just sent for my clearances yesterday and I need to know where to go to get my finger prints done!! My titers were pulled, physical done and tb, my CPR from my job is medical provider through UPMC so I don't have to do that. It's just my background and fingerprints so far.
