CCAC Fall Applicants 2013

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

CCAC just posted the application packet for the fall 2013 nursing program. Just wondering who else is applying. I have all of my pre-reqs and co-reqs done except for micro which I am taking this semester along with medical terminology and infection control. I'm also applying to St. Margret's. Anyone else?

This is from the nursing website

"Example clinical sites include: Allegheny Valley Hospital, UPMC Braddock, Children’s Hospital, Forbes Health System, Health South Rehabilitation Institute, Mercy-Jeannette Hospital, and Beverly Healthcare Systems"

That is long, but I'm guessing it's accelerated. Where do you live in Pittsburgh? I'm in southern Butler county. I was thrilled when I looked up the clinical locations.

Oh wait I jus looked on the site and yes our clinical sites are excellent!

Thank you! Although, UPMC Braddock is no longer open but the rest are really good hospitals

I just check the NCLEX rates for CCAC from October 2011 to September 2012 and it was 83%.

Here's the website, maybe you have a more updated version, if you do please post it.

Hmm, you're right! I saw 75% somewhere a while ago, but I can't remember. Glad to know I was wrong! 83% is much better than 75%. I guess what I'm really concerned about is whether or not the school provides nursing students with quality resources. The stuff we use in Anatomy for lab is old, broken, missing parts, etc. That's what has me a little apprehensive. CCAC is so cheap, but is it cheap at the expense of experience? Does anyone know anyone who went to the nursing school with first-hand experience? The accounts on here are vague and vary so much, it's hard to really get a good feel for the program.

Does anyone know anyone who went to the nursing school with first-hand experience to attest to how well prepared you are upon completion? I don't just want to pass the test, I want to be fully prepared to enter the workforce, ya know?

Sorry, I'm still getting the hang of posting on this forum..

I have no idea. I just mailed out the form indicating that I'm accepting admission. I know you have to have a criminal background check which you can do online for $10, you have send for your child abuse clearance also $10, and get you FBI clearance which is around $28. You'll need your CPR certification also. This stuff you can do now. There are also other stuff we have to do like drug test and physical but in going to wait until I get more info.

To be honest I don't have a clue. I already had microbiology and A&P 1 complete. I also have a Bachelors degree with a 3.4 graduating GPA. So all i have to complete is A&P 2 and the nursing courses. Hope this helps!
