CCAC Fall Applicants 2013

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

CCAC just posted the application packet for the fall 2013 nursing program. Just wondering who else is applying. I have all of my pre-reqs and co-reqs done except for micro which I am taking this semester along with medical terminology and infection control. I'm also applying to St. Margret's. Anyone else?

Do you have all of your co-reqs done or are you taking some with the nursing classes?

I have everything complete except for A&P 2. I think I'm going to take it this summer before nursing classes start.

I personally would finish it over the summer. I have three small children so I wanted to make sure that I just had nursing courses to take. I'm taking math 108 and ethics this summer, luckily I can take both online which saves for needing a babysitter.

I didn't think letters came until May either! Then I found this forum YESTERDAY! I haven't received a letter....and I'm dying! I applied for Allegheny Day program....this is TORTURE!!!

I didn't expect it either. I only check my mail every few days, so when someone else posted that they got theirs I ran to the mailbox.

Doe anyone know anything about the quality of CCAC's program? I know the NCLEX pass rate is only 75%, which is terrible, but I also know the criteria for admission is rather lax. I know a lot about UPMC because I have a cousin who went there, and their program is very good, but I don't know anyone who went to CCAC for Nursing. UPMC is just so much more expensive, which is why I'd rather go with CCAC.

P.S. I'm asking because I'm currently taking Anatomy and Physiology 1 and it's a joke. The labs are pointless--if we even do them--and we get bonus questions and stuff it's like high school. I don't want the nursing program to be as easy as Anatomy is, I want it to be challenging and, therefore, satisfying. If Anatomy is a preview of the quality of CCAC's instruction in general, I want to go with UPMC instead--it'd be worth the extra money!

I just registered for A&P 2 first summer session at the North campus.....I hope the professor isn't too bad..it's such a long class from 5pm - 10pm Tuesday and Thursday

I chose CCAC because of the price and the schedule. When I first decided to go to nursing school my first choice was St. Margaret's. I did all of the pre-reqs and the co-reqs for it, but when push came to shove I couldn't justify the cost. No matter which program I graduate from I know that I HAVE to get my BSN right after anyways and I will probably have to take out loans for that. With CCAC I can get my RN for several thousand dollars and start working while I get my BSN.

As far as your A and P course goes just be glad that you didn't end up on the other side of things. CCAC is full of extremes, some professors are pushovers and a guaranteed A, others will kick your butt, I've had both.

That is long, but I'm guessing it's accelerated. Where do you live in Pittsburgh? I'm in southern Butler county. I was thrilled when I looked up the clinical locations.

Well the class is from early June to late July and I live in Penn Hills....where are the clinical locations?
