Anyone going to LCCC?

I see that this college hasn't been mentioned here and I'm just wondering if anyone has gone or is looking to go to Luzerne County Community College? I'm already a student there and I'm just 3 or 4 classes shy of getting my business administration degree, however, I'm changing my curriculum (believe me, I WILL complete the business degree, I will graduate with 2 degrees) and I'm hoping to get accepted into the Nursing program, I'm just waiting to receive my letter in the mail to tell me which date I take the NET on :nuke:

Oop, I should mention I'm applying for Fall 2009 and I already have most of my general classes taken. By the time fall comes the only general ones I'll need for the nursing sequence is Micro and A & P 2

So I'm guessing that no one else on here has gone or is going or thinking about going to this school then, right?

I graduated from LCCC May of 03. :D

What teachers did you have for A&P and Micro? Do you remember? I am accepted as a nursing student now :] I'll start my first nursing class this summer nur 124 and then nur 101 in the fall :]

But as of right now I'm scheduled to take A&P2 and Micro ONLINE in the summer with M. James as my instructor and I've heard she's really really difficult. So right now I'm considering taking A&P2 during the summer and Micro in the fall, but I'm not sure how well that will work out. I have Brady right now for A&P and I'd really like to have him for Micro if I took it in the fall.

for a+p 1 I had dr. adelson (adjunct) he was HARD. He does NOT give A's. I got a B+. I learned a lot. I forget who I had for a+p 2. He made ir really easy, I got an A but did not really learn much. For micro, I had James. She is HARD, but fair, and you will learn an amazing amount. I got an A. (I was normally an A student.) I would take her again. I worked my butt off with her, but I really feel it was worth it. A few other students got A's, but most got B's.

I took a+P 1 and 2 the summer before starting the nursing program. I took micro the summer between the first and second year. I do not recommend taking either A+P or micro along with the nursing program. Those that did that really struggled. Nur 124 is easy dont worry about it.

Thank you that helps make my decision easier :] Would you recommend taking A&P2 + Micro together with Mary James?

I didn't even considering doing one this summer & one next summer.

They are both REALLY a lot of work. Both have labs that are intense. I would not do them together. I would do the A+P courses this summer, and the Micro after Nur 102.

That's what I figured, especially to be doing them online ya know? I was very afraid that this might happen, for some reason in my head, I feel like I NEED to have Micro done before I start the nursing, I really don't know why I feel that I HAVE to, but I have to break that thought. I WILL be doing A&P2 definitely during the summer just because... I'm taking A&P 1 right now lol, it would just make sense.

I'm also going to be taking an online medical terminology class just to get a heads up before for I start NUR 101 :]

Thank you for your suggestion :]

The medical terminology class would make things a lot easier for you. The program goes really fast and is intense. If you know all the terminology first, it seems like it would be a lot easier. I was an LPN before going to LCCC, so it was really great to not have to take the time to learn all the terminology. It sounds like you have this planned out well, and aren't jumping in blindly. :yeah:

Also... Did you know you are allowed to sit for the CNA certification after you complete the first semester of nursing school?

Oh definitely :] It would make learning a lot easier knowing what the words mean before hand haha. Being an LPN would absolutely be a total advantage.

& Yes, I know that, but I really want the experience of the job so I can get the idea of whether or not nursing is right for me. I just got a job as a non-medical caregiver today & I'm excited about that, I can't wait to get started. (I started on Sunday) But if I don't become a CNA by summer I will definitely sit in the test after my first semester.

Thanks so much :]

I was about to attend LCCC last year but instead I enrolled into the college network to finish my gen ed's. I would much rather study when I have the time and be guaranteed that I pass the nclex. Tuition is constantly on the rise with all schools and I'm grateful to be going through a program that is 1/2 the cot of other programs.

I love nursing
