2nd Degree Nursing programs...Prior Degree and GPA?

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Hello!

Im just curious, all of those applying for the 2nd degree nursing programs, what previous bachelors degree did you have and what was your GPA?

My bachelor's degree is in Secondary Mathematics Education. My GPA was 3.8 something. I've taken other courses since then (pre-reqs for the program I've applied for), so I'm not sure what my cumulative GPA is at this point.

My previous bachelor's degree was in Information Technology. My undergrad GPA was about 3.4, but my pre-reqs for nursing GPA was more like a ~3.8 I believe.

I had a BA in English Lit with a 2.8 GPA, prereq GPA of 3.9.

Ughhh! You guys are all so smart. I cant seem to get any higher than B's on all my classes... Im just a B student, not an A. so now im worried I wont get in anywhere.. ahh!

A "B" average is nothing to be ashamed of! Work on getting "A"s in the "easier" (ie., gen ed) classes to raise your GPA. Different schools have different GPA expectations, and a lot of them factor in your life skills as well when you are applying for a second degree program. Just do your best!

Hi tootsie2184,

I see you are at harcum can you please give me feedback on the program?

Thanks

KC

Horrible, im in the day program and Ive never had worse teaching in my life. Not to mention the program just got a letter notifying students that the program is in provisional status because only 60% of students pass the NCLex. its sad.

I really need to send you an email offline can you email I cant send you pm yet or emails. Thanks KC

Yikes! Definitely do an NCLEX prep class on your own then. It's expensive to take the NCLEX- you want to pass on your first shot if you can.

Specializes in PCU / SDU.

I have been accepted to DeSales ABSN program for this upcoming May 2011. My previous degree (BS in Biology) GPA was a 3.0 . Good luck! :o)
