Cast removal for child

What will be your nursing intervention on a child who does't want to remove her cast? Do you talk to her to her level of language and explain the removal? Extend the cast to stay for two weeks? Or ask the parent to hold her while you remove the cast? Anyone please.. Thnks your advice will be a big help and if it is evidenced based or theoretically stated will be better. Thx everyone.

Please explain how keeping a cast on for 2 more weeks would be good for the child?

That's like the parents who tell me little Johnny has a fever I don't know what to do he won't take his Tylenol

Or my little princess doesn't like needles we can't do blood work...um sometimes things have to be done.

Um, since when is it a nursing decision to just leave a cast in place for another 2 weeks? What makes you think the child will cooperate in 2 weeks? How old is this child? Children rarely want to do the things we need to do for them. This is non-negotiable. The cast needs to be removed. How would you proceed?
