hello everyone :)

I had an interview for a pct position with davita, not sure how well I did because one (of the four) interview-ee's seemed to focus on the fact that I have no dialysis experience.

I passed the phone interview with flying colors, and the person I interviewed on the phone with said davita provides dialysis training for all technicians who are lacking the experience.

I'm just bummed. I have been doing hospice/dementia care since 2005 and was interested in dialysis so thought I'd give it a try.

hoping for the best anyway. :) I was interviewing for 2 different clinic locations so maybe I have a chance to be considered the right candidate.

anyone here who began at a dialysis clinic with zero dialysis experience?

I hope your post gets a responce. I've just applied with them. BTW, how long did it take them to call you for an interview?

lets see....i applied online, the same day I got an email saying they wanted to schedule a phone interview. I believe I scheduled the phone interview for the next day. the person on the phone said it would take about a wk for them to contact me, due to thanksgiving and everything. so yesterday, they called, and I interviewed today.

I'm sure yours will go quicker, since christmas isn't for 3 wks. :)

i was offered the job today. :) they do hire people with no dialysis exp!! hooray :) good luck!

yes I will be in training for about 3 months. I'm excited!! Have you gone to dialysis tech school, or are you like me, bright eyed and bushy tailed? lol. I am a cna.

Come on I know you are working very hard at getting through training but let us know how your doing:yeah:. Are they paying you while your in training? Is the training very hard? What cert will you have after training:idea:?

i haven't begun yet, but will probably start next week, depending on my background check and everything. :) i am sure the training is going to be VERY hard, i have no dialysis experience whatsoever!!! but i am excited to learn a lot :)

in my state, you have to pass the dialysis exam by the time you have worked for 18 months--i live in california. but i think this goes for every state. anyhow, i believe my title would be certified hemodialysis technician. :)

Hi guys!

Like you two, I also got hired without previous dialysis experience, although I had done most of an LPN program at a vocational school. I work for Fresenius, and the training is LOADS of fun! As long as you have a slight back ground in medical, then it's a breeze. The medical terminology is super easy, as well as understanding everything the kidneys do. It's the on the floor training that I didn't feel quite as comfortable with because I used to HATE needles. Haha. It will be three years come this May that I've been with Fresenius, and it's a great job! I'm currently working on nursing pre-req's, and since I've worked here for so long, they are very accomodating with my school schedule.

I hope you two both have a great training experience. :)

Congrats!!! to all of you....:ancong!: I just had my phone interview today with DaVita. The interview said they will move me on to the next step, the face to face interview, I hope it will be soon.

Well Congrats on landing a job with DaVita. I have worked in Dialysis for over 6 years now and I have to admit after the first few years it gets old quick! However, I think its a great way for someone to get their foot in the door to some experience! Because we all know how hard it is to get a job with out that crucial factor right!? The training is not hard at all, maybe a little stressful at times because they expect you to pick things up quick but its definatly not hard. You will deal with all kinds of patients and learn to work with multi tasking, teamwork, and with nurses! I hope you do well but I am currently looking to get out! The badside of dialysis is, upto 16hour shifts is a normal day, you never get off your feet, the stress really gets to you sometimes during turnover, and some teammates are just not helpful as a team. Get your RN so you can move up the ladder where its much nicer! :)

DaVita is the best dialysis company you could work for though, I hated FMC!
