CNA or MA for points?
Clatsop no longer offers patient care points.

Moving to Northwest Oregon
To get back on topic... Try the dialysis centers. There's always a shortage of dialysis RN's. I know that our unit here in Astoria just hired one not that long ago, but they always need them in Saint Helens, which is about an hour and ten minutes from here. They keep borrowing our RN to work out there. The website is http://www.fmcna.com. If you don't have dialysis experience they put you through the hemodialysis patient care technician training and have you work as a technician for awhile first. But check the openings on Fresenius' website, dialysis RN's are needed. Hope this helps! Astoria is such a pretty place to live... once you get past the rain and overcast days.

Hemodialysis jobs in Northern Oregon?
Kat, I think I'm now following in your footsteps. :) I work at the dialysis center and taking the prereqs for nursing up at Harvard on the Hill. Any advice? Haha, was David there when you were working there? Was it hard to juggle 12 hour shifts and NS hw? Kristen

Thank you to all the hard-working CNA's and PCTs
& I bet the techs love working with you as well. :) Team work is a two way street, don't you just wish everyone knew that? Hehehe.

Clatsop Community College
Hi all! I was wondering about the points and/or GPA you had when applying to their nursing program. I'm going to apply for Fall 2012 and was wondering just how high I should get my GPA to. I'm thinking after I finish this terms course load it will be approximately 3.85. I could retake the classes I got B's in if necessary. Justtrying to feel out how cutthroat they are. :-) Thanks in advance for the info!

Pct interview for davita
Hi guys! Like you two, I also got hired without previous dialysis experience, although I had done most of an LPN program at a vocational school. I work for Fresenius, and the training is LOADS of fun! As long as you have a slight back ground in medical, then it's a breeze. The medical terminology is super easy, as well as understanding everything the kidneys do. It's the on the floor training that I didn't feel quite as comfortable with because I used to HATE needles. Haha. It will be three years come this May that I've been with Fresenius, and it's a great job! I'm currently working on nursing pre-req's, and since I've worked here for so long, they are very accomodating with my school schedule. I hope you two both have a great training experience. :)
