  1. I will be taking Psych 1&2 with my A&P1. Which is good because I may need some Psych after this summer. Oh, I also plan on cleping English Comp 1&2 before the summer is over.
  2. It could be that some people are trying to get in your head. We know that racism is still alive, we have and probably will continue to live with it no matter how well we do in life. Heck, look at what our president has to put up with!! Don't let anyone get in your head, stay focused and get after your goals in life. And there are a lot of other nursing schools out here in IL. You can do it!!!!
  3. I started my pre-reqs this spring with biology and communications. Starting May 14 I will be taking A&P1 along with Intro Psychology in the first part of the semester and then Developmental Psychology for the last part of the summer semester. So the way I have it setup I will only be taking two classes at any given time during the summer. I have all of my books and A&P1 looks like it is going to be very interesting but rough. I plan on take A&P2 in the fall.
  4. I have completed both the CNA and Phlebotomy programs at my cc and I can tell you that both will give you so much more self confidence. Both were a great learning experience even though they cost some money. If you have the time and money I would do both because you will get to see two different career paths in healthcare and thus have more options for your future. Just something to think about.
  5. Looks like I'll be giving it a try this summer, my A&P1 is 11 weeks, how about yours?
  6. I second what fuzzy said and add that the best way to find a job in this field is to go to the nursing homes in your area and apply in person. You will find that some places just don't even try to look at online applications because there are just to many but if they have your resume and application in their hand you may be the first person they think of hiring. This has worked for me at three nursing homes and I got three offers.
  7. I have been to a lot of information sessions for nursing programs lately and they all make it sound like the nursing field is the place to be, but as you can see from not just this website but many others the nursing field is being flooded. I think its so that at some point in the near future wages will come way down. Just think about it, with all of the nurses out here, hospitals, LTC and other places will be able to low ball everyone and because so many people need jobs we will take whatever we can get. I think the schools are just trying to stay above water and don't care if the student is put in the poor house by student debt. The school knows that new grads in any field are having a very very hard time getting jobs after school, but they just keep cracking them out in to the world. So if you are lucky enough to have a job please do yourself a favor and stay there. That's just my . P.S. I was told at one nursing school info session that the new and only entry level into nursing will be BSN. Now that could just be the school trying to make more money but who really knows whats true anymore.
  8. I'm glad you are all having fun..lol...:lvan:
  9. I can't believe that they would cancel the EKG class 2 hours!!!!! before the class starts!!!! What the !$@@! is that!!! Now I don't know if I can even get back in to the PCT class. I was there the first day but I have sent my books back to B&N and would need to get books. I am so now. What should I do? I can't get any books until next week. Should I even try to get back in to the PCT class, is it worth the money? Help!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. The only thing we as men can do is speak to all people with a soothing calm voice and remember the patients/residents rights. If the patient said no to you don't take it personal just inform the nurse. I have had this happen to me on more then one occasion. It can make you feel like crap some times and your coworkers may not like it when you need to switch with them, but it is what it is, life isn't fair and it will always be unfair. And I'm sorry but the fact that I am a back man can be a problem in some circles, one day it's not a problem then the next day, WOW , what a difference a day makes for some people. But just keep smiling :) and make that money, besides there are a lot of other things you can do in health-care if direct patient care in LTC isn't for you. I've had my taste of LTC, I will be working on other aspects of health-care as a career, you can too.
  11. I was the very late guy. The EKG class starts on Monday in the same room, that's were I'm going to spend the little money I have and then later I will do a phleb class some where else because it will take to long to get in the one a WCC.
  12. Well it looks like I'm going to drop the PCT class and do the the EKG at WCC instead.
  13. This is one of the many reasons why a site like this is so important. And hopefully we can can all help each other stay working. Because I know personally I need all the help I can get, being a new CNA. So if at any time anyone has any leads on work just send me a message and lets talk. I would greatly appreciate the help and advice from like minded people.
  14. May I ask which school are you in and what state?:)
  15. It may be but some how I think this is going to be a very big problem for some time. I feel some times like these schools are just trying to keep their own heads above water when they really know whats going on out here. It's all about the money for them.
