Have you had a bad reaction to the H1N1 vaccine? If so what happened?

:paw: Hospital is offering H1N1 vaccine today to employees, I am hesitant to take it due to the possible reaction.:paw:

I had swelling in my arm for about 2 days following the injection.

Still was better than missing 2 weeks of work and the 2 weeks of 'brain freeze' type headache and chest cramps... As per my usual luck we didn't have access to the vaccine until after I had it... :(

Question - I had the Shingles shot at a local Drugstore on January 5. A week later, I had a large red patch at the injection site (the fatty back side of my arm) that itched. It is now going away. At the time I had noticed that H1N1 was not available for all age groups, so I asked the pharmacist about that. He said that I couldn't get another vaccination for two months. Today my husband's doctor gave him the H1N1 and told him it would be fine for him to get the Shingles shot today - and wrote him a prescription. I am very confused! He said that it would be fine to take the two together.

My husband is 73 and in poor health. Do you know who is right? Should he wait?

Thanks for our help! He's planning to get the Shingles shot tomorrow......

We can't give medical advice here. He already has his doc's opinion. Now he can ask the pharmacist as well, and then decide.

I didn't get shingles vaccine but I did have shingles recently. I only mention this because, I waited 2 weeks and then got my swine flu vaccine without any ill effects.

Call your county Health Department and ask if there is any contraindication to having the H1N1 vaccine along with the Shingles vaccine....... They'd have the last word on that. Ask for the Immunization Nurse.

I gave some 120 H1N1 shots this November and December - not a single reaction other than a sore arm.

Did you ask the recipients of the vaccine to wait 20 minutes before leaving yhour site, so that you'd know if they had an allergic reaction? That, of course is all you'd know within that time frame. Statistics haven't been researched thoroughly, in a double blind study regarding claims that people get H1N1 from that vaccine. CDC may know about possible research.

just a stiff arm. Some coworkers got cold-like symptoms a couple of days later that resolved in a few days. Better than getting H1N1 anyday.
