Anyone An Ortho Certified Rn????


OK. I'VE BEEN ON MY ORTHO FLOOR FOR 2YRS LOVE IT(RN). I LIVE IN NJ. I WAS CURIOUS IF ANYONE HAS ANY INFO ON HOW TO GET "ORTHO CERTIFIED? WHO DOES IT ENTAIL. WHAT DOES IT GET ME? WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO GET IT? IS IT A COURSE OR A TEST, OR BOTH? AND IS IT EVEN WORTH IT IN THE LONG RUN?

I would ask your nurse educator or equivilent if they have any information about the certification. Here awhile ago, we had classes going to Geriatric Nurse Certification. They have classes for 6 weeks to prepare you for the certification exam.

I recently asked mine if there would be any opportunity for an Ortho certification class. She's checking in it for me and will get back to me. I hope so because I am extremely interested as well.

Where I work we would get a $100 more per month for the certification. The NAON website will fill you in on all the specifics. The test costs around $300 and the (recommended) book another $150. Test itself is hard , I've heard. One of my fellow workers just took it, and passed . Our Unit Manager took it - and failed ---GO Figure!!!
