OHSU's Accelerated BSN program 2012

U.S.A. Oregon

Published

Hi! I live in Portland, OR and want to apply for OHSU's accelerated bachelor's program for nursing, but there isn't a lot of information out there on it. I've browsed their website, but it doesn't answer all the questions I have. I would love to know exactly what they judge you on in order to get in. I know your GPA and essays are extremely important, but do they care if you have had work history, or your CNA license or not? I don't have any experience, but have a 4.0 so far in my pre-reqs, and a 3.6 in my previous bachelor's degree (in a social work field). Anyway, I want to apply for the program to enter it in the summer of 2012, so I can finish up my pre-req's and what not. I am just wondering what else I need to do, because I really want in. Also, how much does it cost, and being accelerated, is it 5 days a week, 8 hours a day, or what? I have two kids I'm going to need to find childcare for while I'm in school, so I just want to know what I'm in for. anyway, if you can help me answer any of these questions, I would so greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Hello smallfry2,

I appreciate your feedback and agree completely. I too am extremely disappointed by the whole process. However, I will keep my spirits up and recognize that we did get on the alternate list...that does say something in itself:) Did you apply anywhere else?

Deleting my post... It was the wrong program! Oops. I first read the letter thinking it was a final denial from the ABSN but it was actually from the traditional BSN. Sorry for scaring you Andee!

Anyway... I'm still planning on Linfield and looking for a place to live.

Has anyone that was on the waitlist been accepted yet? There were so many of us that were waitlisted you would think that at least one of us has been accepted.... anyone else receive that letter that shauna.r mentioned?

If you don't mind me asking, what did the letter say? I am currently on the waitlist for OHSU and would love to know for sure either way. At this point I just need to start making decisions about my future and the waiting is killing me. Thanks for your input! Congrats on Linfield!!!!

Hello Andree137 and shauna.r,

Have you received acceptance letters for OHSU Accelarated BSN or Traditional BSN after being place on the alternate waitlist? I too like many others have been waitlisted on the ABSN alternate list and have not received a call or letter. Congrats to you both!!!!

No news yet... From what I have seen here no one has heard anything past getting on the waitlist.

Andee137,

Thank you for your response. Have a wonderful day!

Hi everyone, I am also on the ABSN waitlist and have not heard anything. I gave up my spot to Monmouth's 3 yr program to stay on the Accelerated waitlist. I was accepted off U of P's waitlist last week (it can happen!) and will plan on going there unless I hear from OHSU ABSN. Crossing my fingers for everyone!!

pdxrose,

Congrats on acceptance to U of P:yeah: !! I think we are all anxiously awaiting to hear something, anything from OHSU ABSN Program....Nerve-racking to say the least. I wish the very best for all of us waitlisters!!!

Thank you!!! :-)

Has anyone heard anything about the RN to BSN program at OHSU? I'm looking into a couple of different schools. Any information anyone has would be appreciated :) Congrats to all that have been accepted.

Spoke to admissions this morning, they said alternate list notification will begin today for the absn program! :)
