Hi! I live in Portland, OR and want to apply for OHSU's accelerated bachelor's program for nursing, but there isn't a lot of information out there on it. I've browsed their website, but it doesn't answer all the questions I have. I would love to know exactly what they judge you on in order to get in. I know your GPA and essays are extremely important, but do they care if you have had work history, or your CNA license or not? I don't have any experience, but have a 4.0 so far in my pre-reqs, and a 3.6 in my previous bachelor's degree (in a social work field). Anyway, I want to apply for the program to enter it in the summer of 2012, so I can finish up my pre-req's and what not. I am just wondering what else I need to do, because I really want in. Also, how much does it cost, and being accelerated, is it 5 days a week, 8 hours a day, or what? I have two kids I'm going to need to find childcare for while I'm in school, so I just want to know what I'm in for. anyway, if you can help me answer any of these questions, I would so greatly appreciate it. Do you have any insight on when possibly OHSU may start contacting waitlisters/alternates if space(s) become available for Summer/Fall Cohorts? Again, thank you and have a great weekend.
Hi everyone! I just wanted to let you know that I turned down my offer from OHSU for summer entry. I already accepted at another program for a Fall start. Anyway, best of luck to those on the waitlist and know that there is one spot open from me :)
Well, haha...from what everyone in my cohort said, they were all waitlisters too at OHSU. It's really variable for schooling up here and when you will get a call if an opening becomes available. For instance, one friend of mine got admitted into the school of dentistry a week after they started. Just keep an eye out for an e-mail or phone call. We had a mix of both. I got a call, some people received e-mails. Don't lose hope. :)
I am a student starting in the summer cohort and I just wanted to share with you some information from our program coordinator. The summer cohort class size is 64 and the fall cohort is 32. That's a lot of spots! Good luck to all you waitlisters :)

has anyone on the absn alternate list received an email or call from ohsu school of nursing regarding acceptance for available space(s) in summer fall cohort 2012? rumor has it that all spaces are filled....grrr. extremely frustrating and nerve wracking experience. your comments are greatly appreciated! have a fun weekend
I never received a call or email... but that is a bummer that heard they were all full. I expected that most people would keep their spots, so it's not a surprise, but it would have been nice to be a part of it :) Next year, I guess!
