Clackamas Community College Fall Cohort!

U.S.A. Oregon

Published

Hello Everyone!

I just found out that I got accepted at Clackamas Community College for the nursing program this fall! I thought I would start a topic group for all of us, so that we can get to know eachother. I am so excited. I feel that I have worked so hard to get here, and the door was finally opened!

A little about me: I am 30, 31 in 2 weeks. I have worked for Providence for almost 7 years, in all different areas, but currently a supervisor in the billing office. I want to go into hospice nursing, at least right now.

I can't wait for orientation next month!

Jason

Hihi all (4 of you)!

I'm Jessie, and I'll be starting at Clackamas in the fall with you. I was on the waitlist for a couple of weeks, but recently got my official offer email ? I'm 26, no kids, getting married at the end of the summer. I have a Bachelors Degree from PSU in Health Sciences, and currently work in the OR at OHSU as an Anesthesia Tech. @prfoodie-thanks for posting such a detailed note about clinicals, it's nice to know! I'm excited to meet all of you this week! Cheers!

Welcome Jessie... and congrats on both the acceptance AND the wedding!!

That orientation was intense! We have a lot to do before September 30th! I just registered for the classes in the fall. I chose the clinical lab on Tuesday afternoon. Anyone else made a decision yet?

BTW, I was the little redhead sitting in the front row.

Erin

Yeah, it was pretty nerve-wracking, but very informative! I especially enjoyed speaking with the 2nd yr students afterward. My concern is BI234 though... I was one of those who raised my hand for not having completed the course (eek). Oh, & when facing the instructors, I was at the right/front corner. ~Christy

Hey, fellow nursing students! I got offered a slot today at Clackamas! Looking forward to seeing you all again in the Fall!

Simplesimle, were you at the orientation last Friday?

simplesmile, CONGRATS!! :)

Yes. Tallish, wearing a purple polo and gray capris in the back row.

Hey, all! Now that the initial thrill has passed, I am looking at the practical matter of moving to Portland before nursing school starts in the Fall. I have a job, a husband and a geriatric dog to take into account. My workplace knows I'll be leaving when the time comes. Any suggestions on where to look for housing up there, or places to stay away from? Any help will be appreciated...

My boyfriend and I live in the Lents/Mt Scott area in Portland. My commute to campus will be less than 3.5 miles. I love our area, the housing is affordable and it's in the midst of a few Urban Renewal projects. Are you looking to buy a house, rent a house, rent an apartment or something else? I might have some recommendations.

I agree with prfoodie, Mt Scott is a nice area to live, as well as Happy Valley. I live in the Oak Grove/Milwaukie area (decent w/ a commute of approx 15 min). I would avoid the immediate areas surrounding SE 82nd however, as the crime rate is seemingly higher.

We are looking to rent a house or apartment. Any recommendations on how to look for rentals? I've been looking at Craigslist, Trulia, and Zillow.
