Clackamas Community College Fall Cohort!

U.S.A. Oregon

Published

Hello Everyone!

I just found out that I got accepted at Clackamas Community College for the nursing program this fall! I thought I would start a topic group for all of us, so that we can get to know eachother. I am so excited. I feel that I have worked so hard to get here, and the door was finally opened!

A little about me: I am 30, 31 in 2 weeks. I have worked for Providence for almost 7 years, in all different areas, but currently a supervisor in the billing office. I want to go into hospice nursing, at least right now.

I can't wait for orientation next month!

Did the FB page ever happen?

Did the FB page ever get set up?

I just checked a minute ago & requested to join "CCC Nursing Class of 2015." Looks like there's already 48 members... better late than never, right? ;)

The "CCC Nursing Class of 2015" I found was for Clinton Comm College in NY.

I thought I had recognized one of the members of the group & requested to join, but I might have it all wrong... FB on my phone doesn't show me any details on the location & so I just assumed. I hope that there is one set up though... it's a great way to connect!

On another note, is everyone all set for fall start? I'm finishing up some things this week, and am hopefully going to meet with my CCC mentor... looking forward to starting soon! :)

I am registered and everything's cleared for certified. I have to move to Milwaukie from Eugene next weekend, and then I can get my supplies - books, scrubs, etc. - and hopefully squeeze in a breather before we begin! I welcome any tips on finding what I need - I'll be learning a new city as well as starting nursing school, so overwhelmed will be my middle name for a while!

simplesmile,

I just picked up my uniform a few days ago from NW Scrubs in NE Portland. They have a nice variety, although lab coats are generally limited in all stores. Closest to Milwaukie is Life Uniform, but they are in the middle of a transition, and the campus bookstore is always an option. As far as other materials, I am still needing to get books myself. Hopefully I'll be able to do that this week. Looks like you have a lot of work ahead of you with the move and all... you must be so excited though! With only a few weeks left, I'm really excited too... not to mention nervous, lol!

Thanks for the tips Christy24! It will be a lot of work but I'll have almost two weeks to get settled and get my goods together. I am excited and nervous about school too - I saw there is a new student orientation on 9/20 at the main campus - do you think I would get anything useful out of it, or is it geared to folks who are totally new to college?

I've taken all if my prerequisites at CCC, so I know that the new student orientation is geared towards common basics, like financial aid, testing, and advisor information. It gives a good start for the main aspects, but they generally send you to Harmony campus for anything related to nursing.

Sounds like I'll be better served by just taking an hour or tow and going up to the main campus to walk around and find things. Thanks!

It will also give you a chance to find the place that we will be meeting at for our first day... good luck w/ the move!

Is anyone else having a difficult time with the financial aid office?
