Applicants to PDX area Nursing Schools 2010

U.S.A. Oregon

Published

Hi fellow applicants for 2010!!

I wanted to start a thread for all of us who are applying to various nursing schools in the area for 2010. I have applied to five different places: OHSU-Monmouth, University of Portland, Portland Community College, The University of Washington, and Boise State University. I wanted to cover myself and hopefully ensure that I would get in somewhere. I have a really good GPA and experience as an EMT-Basic so I am hoping that that will help my chances.

Just waiting it out until they send out notifications.....I just want to hear back!!! :banghead:

Good luck to everyone who applied!

Hello!

I am currently a sophomore. I applied to OHSU-Ashland, Linfield, and UP's traditional BSN programs.

Does anyone know exactly when OHSU notifies it's applicants? I read online that Linfield notifies its applicants in April and expects them to put down a deposit by middle of May.

I really want to go to OHSU, and it would suck to have to put down a hefty deposit for Linfield before knowing I get accepted to OHSU.

OHSU is saying they will notify people in early may. Good luck!

I applied to the OHSU Accelerated Bachelor's to PMHNP program, and just received a rejection letter in the mail yesterday. :crying2: I applied to the plain Accelerated Bachelor's program too, and I don't think I'm supposed to find out for another month. After the first rejection though, I'm feeling a bit less optimistic...

If it makes you feel any better my sister in law got rejected from the accelerated and into the regular BSN last year. So dont give up hope!

Hi! Sounds like I am in the same boat as many of you...waiting! I applied at PCC and MHCC this year. Keeping my fingers crossed for an interview. For those of you who are applying at community colleges do you know approx how many points you have? I should be about a 55 but I'm not sure if that's going to be good enough. Does anyone know?

Good luck to everyone!

Hi! I am in Portland, OR, and I am applying to PCC and CCC this year, this is my first year applying. I have approx 56 points at PCC and I'm not sure how many for CCC. I called PCC's HAO this morning and they said they are sending out letters the third week of April "hopefully" and are still reviewing applications. So apparently they will send out all letters, both rejections and invitations-at the same time. If anyone has heard something different or receives a letter before that I would LOVE to hear about it! I am sooo anxious! I plan to apply to CCC in April. Good luck everyone!

Thanks for the advice!!

Yes I am also applying to Clackamas CC but their deadline isn't unitl April so I am kind of waiting to hear back from a few of my schools in March before I worry about that. And I did look into Mt. Hood but to be honest I really didn't like how they only give discretionary points to LPNs and CNAs and none to EMTs. All of the other OCNE schools do so I was a little put off, even though I am sure they are an excellent program and I should probably apply anyway! Just hurts my EMT pride i guess.... :).

Anyway, what about you? Are you in a program already or applying?

If I were you I would apply at Mt Hood and Clark (both excellent programs). Forget CCC!!!

I wish I would have noticed this earlier because Mt Hood gives 3 points to EMTs I believe.

I had applied to OHSU-Klamath falls as well all CCs with OCNE.

Has anyone else applied to OHSU-Klamath Falls?

I am trying to find out the odds (last year it was 55 applicants for 24 positions)

I got a letter from Providence inviting me to interview on the 20th of March and when I called UP today they told me that the decisions have been made but the letters have not been sent out yet. I'm becoming sooooo impatient! Does anybody know if Providence would ask you to interview if you didn't get in?

I spoke to an advisor this winter and she said that you must be accepted into the school in order to get an interview. Apparently Providence has a list of people they want to interview, then they get the list of who is into the school from UP and kind of cross reference. However I called the office today and the woman didn't really give me a straight answer. I'm 99% sure you have to be in to get an interview though-it just wouldn't make sense for them to waste an hour of their time and resources otherwise.

thanks for the answer. So did you get picked to interview as well?
