  1. Shelbel, I was just wondering if you would be willing to share any tips on how you were able to get an RN position at a hospital in the Bay Area. I just graduated from a BSN program and moved from Portland to the Bay this August. I've talked to quite a few nurses advising me to look out of state for jobs. My husaband's friend's wife which was a new grad spent almost an entire year looking for an RN job. I've found many job postings require 1-3 years experience which makes me under-qualified. I would appreciate any feed back. And congrats on your job! I'm sure it was not easy to find.
  2. On the California State Board of Nursing webpage it has a mailing request form for fingerprint cards. So can we get fingerprinted in OR with this card and send it to CA? https://app.dca.ca.gov/rn/requests.asp Another question, is this the CA license paperwork that needs to be submitted when taking the exam in OR? http://www.rn.ca.gov/pdfs/applicants/exam-app.pdf
  3. Hi Angie, My name is Kim. I am also going to start nursing at UP this Spring. I think you might be able to add me on facebook through my email at [email protected]. As for the theology classes, I took Old Testament and New Testament this summer at Mt. Hood CC to save money. You should really think about taking it there because it'll save you a lot of money. I took mine online so maybe they will have these classes online in the fall as well.
  4. Hello everyone, I keep reading posts from other folks claiming Linfield nurses as basically incompetent when it comes to clinical experience. Are there any current Linfield nursing students or graduates that can please refute these claims?? I applied to Linfield for next year, and I just want some input from actual Linfield students before I decide which program is best for me. Thanks
  5. I also applied to Linfield for their bsn program. I read somewhere on another thread that Linfield students don't get a lot of clinical experience, and they focus more on community health. I'm not sure if these claims are true, but it is something to consider when deciding which school you want to go to.
  6. I got into UP's Spring cohort! But don't worry; For those of you who are waitlisted, you still have a chance. I really want to go OHSU, so I'm still waiting for their letter.
  7. Hi! I applied OHSU's bsn program in Ashland and also received the financial aid letter. It just means they received your application-- does'nt imply anything else than that.
  8. Hi, I was just wondering when your letter from UP came? I received a big packet from UP today telling me that I was accepted as a "transfer student". It didn't say anything about nursing, so I'm curious whether my acceptance letter has yet to come.
  9. Hello! I am currently a sophomore. I applied to OHSU-Ashland, Linfield, and UP's traditional BSN programs. Does anyone know exactly when OHSU notifies it's applicants? I read online that Linfield notifies its applicants in April and expects them to put down a deposit by middle of May. I really want to go to OHSU, and it would suck to have to put down a hefty deposit for Linfield before knowing I get accepted to OHSU.
  10. Hello everyone, I just applied to the Spring 2011 BSN program at Linfield as well as OHSU and UP. I was just wondering whether Linfield gives a good amount of scholarships for nursing students. Do you think it's too much stress to be working while doing the program? One more question, I read that Linfield will pay round trip airfare to another country if students decide to take advantage of the January Term's travel abroad program. Have any of you traveled abroad yet? Thanks!
  11. I was thinking about getting my CNA this summer. Do you think it's impossible to work part time (maybe 15 hours a week) while being in the program? I've got to find a way to pay for housing while I'm down there, but I read somewhere on OHSU's website saying they don't recommend that bsn students work while going to school.
  12. Thanks and good luck to you too! I guess we won't find out out until June.
  13. Thanks again for replying. I haven't even been accepted to the program yet and I'm already thinking about housing. I have my proctored essay next Friday and I'm so nervous. By the way, are you currently attending OHSU in Ashland?
  14. Do you think it would be a good idea to live in Medford? Also, I was thinking about getting a moped. Does it snow or rain there real often?
  15. Hello everyone, I might be attending OHSU in Ashland next year, and I was just wondering whether I should bring my car there. Is it difficult to get around by bus? Are the hospitals really far? Thanks!
