Showing appreciation for our surgical techs

I am looking for ideas on how to really show our surgical techs our appreciation for them. We have been short staffed with techs and they are getting burnt out. I'm looking for something more than a pot luck since we do those all of the time. I also do not want to purchase merchandise that says anything to the effect of "I'm a surgical tech...yada yada yada." Seems kind of impersonal for what they are going through right now. I also want this to come from the circulators and not administration. I want them to know that they are valued and respected by the people in the rooms with them. Yes, it is important to be valued by your RC and Director but I want our techs to look at us in the room with them and be reminded that we value them for what they are doing at that exact moment...helping us, the surgeon, and the patient during these critical moments. Its obvious that we couldn't perform surgery without them and I want them to know how amazing they are. Thank you for all your help.

Would you consider sending out a survey to the techs? That way, you can get the feedback straight from them. If you don't want to send out a survey, could you pick a few and get some ideas?

How about a gift card to a near by fast food restaurant or something like that? Or maybe having a lunch for them catered in. I LOVE that you are doing this by the way!!

If there is a beauty/massage school close-by, you could ask the school to send students to come in one day so that they could practice chair massages for all the techs.

How about planning a special celebrate CST week where you have a special surprise for them each day? One day you could have a Make you own ice cream sundae party with all the sundae toppings and ice cream. Another day you could have gift cards for Starbucks. One day could be individual small bags of assorted mini chocolate candies tied with a pretty ribbon. Get everyone a thank you card that each circulator could sign with a personal note. You could have a dessert and coffee party where the circulators could bake homemade desserts. Great that you are doing this, I think they will appreciate your efforts.
