Vanderbilt MSN 2015

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello,

I am applying for the MSN program in '15, due in December. I was wondering if anyone knew how much weight the GRE holds, in regards to being competitive? I am a little nervous about my scores not being competitive. Any advice will help!

Best regards,

Specializes in ICU.

I see there's one in Orange County: http://healthdisasteroc.org/mrc

Has anyone started on the interview survey (for the non-nursing bachelor's program)? I just started and it looks like a pain to deal with.

Still struggling to find things to do :p I may just stick with volunteering instead of a job. By this time though, I may not be able to put it on my resume if I get started late...

hm... not a good situation

I've finished up my application, but I won't submit it until mid-October. I like to edit and re-edit obsessively--especially with the statement of purpose and interview survey questions. GuiltyLove, how is the application process going? Are you applying to other schools?

I wrote the interview questions but I have to edit it a bit. I think most of the other things are close to done too.

I'm applying to Columbia, Emory, Western (in California), UCSF, and some others. What about you? I just want to get into something.

Never limit yourself! Aim as high as you want to. I know you only gave a couple of your stats, but I could have said the same about myself and I started at the Vanderbilt pre-specialty MSN 2 months ago.

I know it's cliche, but in my nursing school application process I learned that the old saying is true-

Shoot for the stars and you may just land on the moon. Shoot for the moon, and you may just stay on the ground- or something like that.

I applied to the best schools and doubted myself the whole way; I am very proud to have ended up at Vanderbilt. Now I know to set high goals for myself, because if I hadn't bothered to try I don't know where I'd be.

Best wishes to all of you. No matter where you end up, the fact that you are trying, and here in this forum tells me you're going to do great things with your career.

Thank you for the encouraging advice, MarshaRabbit!

DCBW, I have patient care and research experience and I'm still doubting myself constantly. I imagine if you can express why you'll be an amazing psych NP, they'll consider your application. If you have good scores/GPA/statement/supplement on top of that, even better! I'm also nervous about uprooting myself and potentially my boyfriend for an NP program outside of New England. However, 's program is pretty nice. And they offer the transition from the MSN to the DNP.

The website says that they might contact applicants for interviews...depending on the specialty. Does anyone know if they do interviews for the psych pre-specialty program?

Snoozyd,

Yes, I do believe that they do interviews for the psych specialty.

Oops I finished my application a week or two ago but I forgot to submit until tonight! I wonder if that will hurt my chances since it's less than one week before the deadline.

I'm applying for pediatrics and apparently they don't do interviews for them.
