UWG Nursing Program Summer 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello to everyone applying to UWG's Tanner School of Nursing (TSON). I applied October 1st for the Summer 2018 nursing program. I scored an 88 on the HESI exam, I currently have a 3.8 Nursing GPA and am a licensed CNA.

I look forward to sharing my story and hearing all of yours while we go through the application, acceptance and admissions process. Hopefully, through our postings we can utilize this as a system of support in order to make it through till the end, (graduation).

Took the HESI yesterday and made a 90.5! Good luck to you all :)

Hi all!

I received my BA in Psychology from UWG last Spring, got a 91.5 on my HESI last month and submitted my application to the nursing program as a second-degree candidate last week. (Cutting it close to the deadline, I know.)

My original plan was to get into the program when I transferred to UWG in 2014, but my GPA wasn't high enough.

Nevertheless, I'm hoping we all get good news when admission decisions come out!

Hello everyone! I've applied for the nursing program for this summer as well. I was also told that for transfers a 3.5 GPA is competitive. I won't have all of the bonuses but I'm hoping that I will get accepted anyway. I took the HESI exam yesterday and made an 88.5%. Good luck to everyone applying and don't forget about your CNA certification :)

I do not believe it is a written requirement. I'm sure if a transfer student has around a 3.5 then that would be considered competitive! There are the bonuses for 15 credit hours at UWG, 3.5 science GPA, etc. that help your application if you have those!!

Just wondering if anyone received an update from the BSN Admission Committee. I see there is a date for orientation for those who have been admitted and there is also an attachment of costs.

I got the same email this morning around 11:30! I have yet to login to my student email and see if they've sent anything there. Based on last year's forum it seems as thought they found out fairly quickly!

I received that email as well. Last year it seems as if people starting getting their acceptances around March 15-17th.

I guess I will start checking my email account the first week of March! I am so excited!! I want to wish everyone Good Luck getting accepted into THS SON!!

Hey I'll be applying for next summer. Do you know how they calculate the Science/nursing gpa? Also, do they consider the science gpa or overall gpa for admission? Thanks!

Does anyone know when they will send out final decisions?

They consider the program gpa for admission. So that includes all of the pre-requisite classes for the nursing program I believe. I had taken some other classes that UWG didn't require for nursing before I transferred to UWG so my overall GPA is a little higher than my program GPA.

Did anyone attend the preview day yesterday? I went but it seemed as though there were a lot of high school students there. They said for the Carrollton cohort they typically accept 72-74 students and for Newnan 32. Also, I talked to the nursing advisors and they said that we should be hearing back at the earliest the second week of March, but there is not a definite date for decisions to be released.
