UMSON CNL Applicants for Spring 2014

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi all,

I am starting this thread for anyone who has applied for UMSON spring 2014 CNL class. I thought this would be a good place for us all to get to know each other and keep everyone updated on our status. Please share your thoughts, anxieties, hopes and goals for applying to this program. I am particularly interested in knowing what attracted you to this program as opposed to traditional BSN or RN. Also, please share your background? Also, current students please feel free to add any insight to enlighten us all.

Little about me, my undergraduate degree was in Political Science & Philosophy. I worked in the field of banking for seven years and then as an office manager for a radiology facility for 5.5 years. Working in healthcare field I was exposed to every aspect of healthcare management and administration, but I lacked the clinical background. I am gravitating towards family practice and very interested in providing primary care services. I want to work with the underserved populations. I like the CNL program because it is a master's level program which will give me a chance to elevate my education while giving me the hands on training to be a nurse.

Looking forward to getting to know you all. If you find this thread please introduce yourselves and share a little something about yourself :)

cheers,

I had my interview last week. You're right it wasn't too bad. The interviewer was really nice and pretty much asked the same questions as the essay. The writing sample was also doable.

Yes the wait is going to be a killer. Do any of you know, when the spring semester start?

Hello everyone! I have my interview on Thursday and I can't wait! Looking forward to getting it over and then figuring out where to go from there. I saw some people post about living situations. I live in Harford County and plan to check out public transport but will mostly likely commute. Not looking forwward to it but I suppose it's doable. Good luck to all, hope to hear nothing but good news come mid November!

Hey! I just had my interview as well!

How'd it go 91Kam?!?!

It needs to be mid-November!

When will you find out if you have gotten accepted?

Within the next ten days!

...therefore, the next ten days are going to be the slowest of my life...

It's only the rest of your life! I am trying to be nonchalant but it is like a big pot boiling away on the back burner of my mind all the time. You know? I am excited for it all; studying, scrubs, hospitalia et al. I'm even excited to meet grumpy people who have been doing this work forever because I think they secretly wish to teach what they know and practice kindness, so I will try to help them by listening. Most of all I'm excited to make a difference to people who need understanding in the hardest moments of their lives; the infirm. I think that I already am a nurse, I just have to acquire the tools of the trade. And so here I am passing the time thinking about who I could be in time....It's going to make such a difference for my family. SO YEAH. No big deal waiting for that kind of possibility. What are you planning to apply for to pay for this program emilie290391? That's what I am focusing on right now.

NurseCrespoEm,

I am so excited for the same... the clinicals, scrubs, all the work. I can't wait. I only just graduated in August and I already miss studying (never thought I'd say that). Do you have any suggestions on what to apply for ? I was going to fill out FAFSA and then go from there but this is my first time being financially independent and it's kinda scary and any suggestions for programs to apply for please let me know!

Hey guys! I am anxiously waiting to hear back from UMB after my interview too, the wait is killer. Hopefully by next week right? I live in Baltimore if anyone else does as well? Hopefully we'll all be in the same class together!!
