Nursing Students School Programs

Alright who's applying to the UBC Vancouver BSN September 2015 intake? I'm a second year UBC science student who's applying :) Let's all support and communicate with each other for registration help and processing !

I am a student from Ottawa applying for Sept 2015 :) I can't wait!!

I am!

I've been following some posts from last year...and I feel really depressed because of people's amazing supplements!

not to mention GPA's. :(

how are you guys doing with those? Anyone want to share what they have so far

Not sure about my GPA yet, but I have few volunteering experiences that generally lies in the field of healthcare.

I'm applying also! :) I'm a fourth year Health Science Student at Western University.

Hi there!

I will be applying for September 2015 intake. I have a Health degree from UBC and a 2 year management diploma in Healthcare and Hospital management from BCIT. I currently work as an administrative manager, and in the past worked in a private medical clinic. My average from BCIT is 89%, and from my last 2 years at UBC is about 80%. I was told by the registrars office that they only calculate your GPA for the application from your most recent 30 credits, so lucky for me they will look at my BCIT credits first. Have you already submitted your application? Is anyone upgrading their human anatomy and physiology? I am taking it currently because mine are over 7 years old now. I am also applying to the BCIT program however I would prefer UBC as it is shorter, and the BCIT program would be repetitive as some of the courses I have already taken in my management program.

Hey everyone!

I'm currently a student at UBC and will be applying for the September 2015 intake as well.

Just wondering if any of you are planning to apply else where such as BCIT or KPU possibly?

Hi Everyone!

I'm Joanie...second-time applicant. I got rejected pretty bad last year (I scored 4 on my application...the lowest 25%), and I never really understood why. I have a BSc in Anatomy and Cell biology, I have 7 years of experience in clinical research including the last 4 in pediatric palliative care. I have also been quite involved in my mountain biking club and I have been taking 3 university courses a year just for fun on top of working full time. My grade are very average though... average 77% according to UBC..although I think I should have more and not sure how they calculate it. I was not going to reapply because I felt like it was a big waste of money for me last year and I haven't changed as a person in one year, so if I was not the person they were looking for last year, I am not this year either. But my friend convinced me to apply anyways!

Since last year, I went from a full-time job to a part-time one (as a behavioral interventionist) so I could invest time in other things that were interesting to me, including founding a not-for-profit society promoting outdoor activities for women and doing some volunteer work here and there...maybe equivalent to 2-3 hours a week. Hopefully that will make my application more interesting to them...

But I still have no idea what they are looking for. I am really bad at "selling" myself. Any ideas what they want in a candidate?

Hey all! Wow, I'm super impressed by some of your guys' experiences. I feel like my supplemental application is going to blow compared to some of yours'. Joanie, yours sounds amazing. I'm shocked that you didn't get in, and makes me feel really pessimistic about applying!!

I'm a high school English teacher (recent-ish grad), but I work at a surgeon's office and adore the medical field. I do have a fair bit community service involvement, but I feel like I'm several steps behind some of you. Like you, Joanie, I'm terrible at selling myself as well and really don't understand what UBC sees as a successful applicant.

My BEd GPA was 3.85, but there are only 8 "mark-able" credits in there. The remaining 30 or so are pass/fail, so I'm afraid that they may need to dip into the last semester of my BA (which was a colossal disaster), and bring down my GPA significantly. Does anyone have an opinion or experience in what will hapen in a situation like this?

This is the most stressful application I have worked on, as I finally feel like I've found my calling in the professional world. Not getting in would legitimately feel like the end of the world lol

Good luck to everyone and I hope we will all get through this!!

Hello all!

This is my second time applying - I got to the interview stage this past year and didn't make the cut. So I'm trying again, hoping to have the chance for a better performance at the interview this time around.

Good luck to everyone! From the sounds of it, there are some incredible people vying for the program this year and I hope to study alongside you all!

Hey everyone,

I hope everyone's supplementals are going well! I'm still working on mine but I feel like I'm blabbing too much.Is everyone else really close to word count like I am?

Each section was an exercise of precision and cutting out huge chunks of answers to meet word count. They don't give you a lot of space - maybe to see if you can really boil it down, also because I imagine it makes the application reading less cumbersome. Though I cannot imagine having that job.

Good luck!

I had a question regarding activities, community involvement etc. And maybe one of you knows the answer! It says that you can only use an example once. Let's say I am part of a club. I am involved at different levels in the club. I am on the board of directors, and I also lead weekly meetups, which is not part of my director responsibilities. Can I use that as 2 different activities? or since it is within the same organization, it can only be put in one section?

Thanks for you help! :)
