Santa Ana, Palomar College, Rio Hondo ADN Spring 2014

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Has anyone applied for these schools for Spring 2014? I've been looking for recent threads, but haven't found any so I decided to start one :) It's a tough road to RN, so maybe we can all go through this together!

Also, anyone know how Rio Hondo point system works? There's nothing on their website that says how they add up points. Just wondering where I stand.

Ohoh, and I also applied to Pasadena City as well as Cypress College, but there are already threads for those. But we can talk about them here as well :)

AHH I GOT INTO PCC!!! I'm so happy I'm crying!

Congratulations heyenee. If I may ask, is it lvn to rn u got accepted for?

Hi beckyade,

I applied for the generic ADN. Hope that helps!

Summer session is insane!! Really fast paced and you have to know a lot if info in half the time. There is a steep learning curve. I would suggest reviewing Anatomy and Physiology and reading before class starts to get ahead of the game. We had tests every week on about 10 chapters.

Eek, I was accepted provisionally so hopefully I get into the Spring class!

Yay! Congrats! Did they call you or email? When do you take the TEAS? If I were you I would go with which ever school is closer.. Just my opinion.

I haven't heard anything yet.

Agreed. If NCLEX pass rates are similar, I would go to whichever school is closest. Instead of being in traffic, you could use the time to study :)

Actually disregard this comment. I would go to whichever school finished first. Would you be done sooner at PCC @heyrenee?

I'm racking my brain trying to decide! I don't know if this is common, but I want to go to each orientation to see with which school I find the best connection! I'm used to driving about 30-45 min, so Rio Hondo would be closer, but the thing is the program, aside from the ADN 151 class starts in fall. With Pasadena, I start in January! I've been looking forward to nursing all my life and I can't wait to get started! I'd start sooner and end faster. So that's a huge plus for me. Also, if I went to PCC, I'd most likely love with family members near Azusa, making the drive just about 20 min? As of right now I'm an hour away, near CSUF, so that drive would be a nightmare daily. I'm somewhat leaning towards PCC, but I'm very open to any suggestions!!

They called and emailed! I was unable to answer my phone at the time so maybe that's why they emailed. I also took the teas about a year ago and turned in those results. I think they're still going through their list of ppl, I'm actually #5 on the provisional list so they said I had a great chance of moving up to being actually accepted, so your time will come as more and more people decline!
