I'm a new user to this board and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with Regis University's BSN program. It is a good program and would you recommend it? I'm still completing my prereqs and thought it might be a good match for me. Any feedback and comments are appreaciated! Thank you!

Very expensive. That is my foremost impression of Regis. I have never attended the school, ($$ was the leading reason) Also, for the money, I can honestly say that all the nurses that have come through the units I've worked on have no greater ability or advantage over the nurses from community colleges. That is just my take on it. Someone else may feel differently? SG

Graduated 1995 attended 1993 to 1995.

will get back to you cant delve into it just yet.

In 1993 I was facing unemployment and felt I needed to have more doors open to me.

I had at the time 3 daughters and a wife that was also a nurse who wanted to return to the work force.

I looked in to Pheniox Az program and the Bethel Program here in Colorado Springs.

Deciding on Regis University over the others wasnt so much the difference in price per credit unit. It was being able to attend only once a week and at a time that was consusive for the shedule I needed.

When I attended there was a 1 night a week on Wed from 6pm to 9pm with the exception of a summer clinical that included some day shifts on site at a few different locations.

It is more expensive per credit Unit and there was a religion or theology requirment that was not recuired at the other programs. so the cost was more.

Yor decision will be your own.

I also did very well and graduated with honors and was awarded the Nursing Achievement Award for the year 1995.

I say that only to point out I enjoyed my time there and found the collaboration and development of a network of friends very rewarding.

I am a listed Mentor at the Pikes Peak Comm College web page..just search Terence Mason when you get to http://www.ppcc.cccoes.edu

If you have any questions or would like to contact me ,please feel free to do so.

Take care and dont let anyone tell you that you cant.

While I haven't gone to Regis, I have applied there. I have only heard good things about their programs from those I've talked to. I've also gone to catholic schools all my life, and am attracted to regis because i've come to like the atmosphere of a religious school. Not that they would emphasize catholicism or anything, but I just like having it "around" so to speak. Hope that helps!

Thank you both for all your help! This board is great!

I went to a catholic all-girls high school in Southern California...it was definately hard to get used to, but a great experience. I don't think I would mind to go to another catholic school, since I'm pretty used to the atmosphere already. I went to visit Regis last year and thought the campus was beautiful, and I'm visiting again in two weeks. From what I've heard, their BSN program is pretty good (tell me if any of you disagree).

John Bosco---I'm from Thousand Oaks, which is between Santa Barbara and Los Angeles. I was born and raised in California and I'm desperately seeking a change of weather (I know I'm crazy to give up the so cal sunshine) and new experiences. Just have to finish prerequistes at my community college and I'm off to start nursing school...how exciting!

Thanks!

I michelle, I'm from Ventura (grew up there). I know what you mean about the change of weather..I want seasons! I'm still thinking about moving to Denver, but as it stands now my BF wants to go to Philly. Oh well, no move is ever forever with us!

Wow iliel, what a small world! Well, philly will definately be a change of seasons...way more then our california fake "seasons" where winter is anything below 70 degrees!

Take care,

michelle :)

I come from a family of 12 and we moved around quite a bit. Lived in Costa Mesa in the 1960's Niagara Falls NY in Jourin High and HS and Wichita Ks Nursing School and COlorado for a few years during my youth as well as in Orang County in the 1980's until 1988 moved for what I think will bethe last time to Colorado Springs CO .

I miss the ocean and beahes of Southern Cal Sand Diego etc.

Wife and I moved to Co to be closer to family and felt one family income was importnat enough while raising family so moved to COl Springs.

I too whent to 12 yrs of catholic schools and by the wya HS was all boys too with the all girls school down the street.

Got to admit I was some what inep in the social skills back then and I guess I made up for lost tie going to nursing school.

Learned many valuable lessons there..fell in love for the first time and well I guess I was a late bloomer.

Good luck with your studies and what direction you take a in your academics.

With over 24 years now as a nurse I am building businesses and working toward finding pipelines of revenue so my dependents on an employeer is lessoned and eventually ellimiated.

I wish you all the best and if I was to say anything follow your passions and you will do fine.

Regis University is one of the best Universities in the US.

Life will teach you much much more if you never stop learning but Regis will give you a great start.

Michelle,

I've heard good things about Regis. I graduated from UNC in Greeley with my BSN, am going back to Regis this summer for MSN. Many of my co workers and students that we have had on the unit are from Regis. I think it'd be a good choice.

Good luck and welcome to Colorado!
