online BSN program-please help

Are you already a nurse? Be advised that, if you do not possess any type of nursing licensure (LPN or RN), there are no prelicensure nursing programs that are conducted entirely online due to state-mandated clinical practicum rotations that you must attend weekly.

The best you're going to find are hybrid programs that blend an online didactic portion with an onsite clinical practicum component. In essence, you cannot go from zero to nurse online.

What about West Coast University? Any thoughts out there?

I cannot recommend a nursing program that costs $132,000. No nursing degree is worth that amount of money. The staggering debt will be like a prison ball and chain that will keep you weighted down for years to come.

So those are my thoughts regarding West Coast University.

I am getting ready to graduate from University of Texas Arlington's accelerated RN to BSN program. I have really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it. The only piece of "hidden" information that I found was that you can only take 23 (I may be off a unit or two) units per semester at UTA. So, if you are like me and wanted to do your online BSN in 9 months, it may require you to take classes somewhere else and transfer them to UTA. For example, I had the 9 UTA nursing classes plus 4 general edu to do. That means I had to do a few units outside of UTA. Other than that little road bump, it was smooth without any surprise fees.

I did look into University of Louisiana at Lafayette and did not choose that program because of my time constraints. Though it appeared reputable, it was a smaller school and I was concerned about getting the classes I wanted in the time frame I needed.

It wasn't a second bachelor's degree for me, but I finished my BSN online only through the University of Texas at Arlington. I highly recommend it. The professors were great, and I liked the class setups. Everything was very easily taught. There is a lot of need for being self-driven, because, although you do have deadlines, you have to make yourself watch/listen to the lectures, read your textbooks, and stay up-to-speed on assignments. I also liked that though. It was very flexible, and I could do the work when I had time. I could even go on vacation and bring a laptop with me if I had something to do that week.
