I took and passed the CPNE in Madison, WI back in 2007. Like many of you, I read all the material and was still very confused as to the set up of the exam and what was expected. As a Paramedic, I am very comfortable with skill testing and, I felt confident about my abilities to perform the patient care scenarios. What I was confused and nervous about was the care plans and an overall sense of not knowing what I was in for. I am not sure how I heard about Tina and her workshop (visit her web site at CPNE workshop) but I would not have passed without it! Tina's program is divided up into lecture and skills labs. In the lecture portion she goes over EVERYTHING in great detail, tells you want to expect, how to write it and provides you a mnemonic for everything. When you get to skills lab training, you will practice, practice and practice again each skill until it becomes second nature. When I left Tina, I was 100% confident that I knew what to expect and moreover how to pass the CPNE. When I took the exam in Madison, WI though I was very nervous, Tina's words of wisdom and mnemonics came right to my head. When I sat down to write care plans, I used her tips and techniques and passed with flying colors. Yes, I made some small mistakes here and there but they were nothing to cause me not to pass. I know money is tight for everyone but if you invest in Tina's prep program you will pay for the CPNE ONCE! The way I justified it was I can either wait six months for a test date and prepare once or I can waste another six months to test again while not working as a nurse and loose half a year nurses wages waiting for a second test date. I live north of SF and know the California programs well. Samuel Merritt is a great option. I would contact the school regarding times. There is a totally online program which starts summer but they have another cohort starting in August (I am applying to this one). I believe the deadline for this program is in July. I spoke with a lady name (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME). She was very helpful. Another program in the area is Sonoma State. It is located in Rhonert Park which is just north of SF on hwy 101. That program is full. Deadline for the fall 2016 program is January 31, 2016. This program has some random on sight requirements (more like a hybrid program). Stud, what was the time line between when you applied and when you were notified? Also, do you have any words of wisdom for the application? I have a 3.8 GPA and have been wait listed at 2 other schools.

Hello, I am applying for SM for the FNP online program. SM has an excellent reputation. Because it is a CA school (and fully accredited), there should be no hiccups in obtaining an FNP license in CA. My advice would be to jump in and get it done. Best wishes!

sara, I am getting ready to graduate from University of Texas Arlington's accelerated RN to BSN program. I have really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it. The only piece of "hidden" information that I found was that you can only take 23 (I may be off a unit or two) units per semester at UTA. So, if you are like me and wanted to do your online BSN in 9 months, it may require you to take classes somewhere else and transfer them to UTA. For example, I had the 9 UTA nursing classes plus 4 general edu to do. That means I had to do a few units outside of UTA. Other than that little road bump, it was smooth without any surprise fees. I did look into University of Louisiana at Lafayette and did not choose that program because of my time constraints. Though it appeared reputable, it was a smaller school and I was concerned about getting the classes I wanted in the time frame I needed. Best of luck, Pattie

I am trying to figure that out now. There is no "red" book next to my classes so I am trying to search that stuff now. Any advice?

How did you find out who your advisor was?

Also, from when you registered for your first course, how long before someone called you to answer questions?

In regards to Tech writing, were you able two work ahead in that class?
