Lehman 2017 Generic/Accelerated

I am reapplying to Lehman nursing school. I didn't get in last year because I had a 780 on the CT section of the HESI A2. If you don't have at least a 75 on each of the subjects (A&P, Math, or English) and an 80 on the CT, you won't get in. It doesn't matter what your GPA is. I got rejected with a 3.74 GPA, and I know people with 3.6 who got in because they had at least an 800. If you have under a 75 in any section or under an 800 on the CT, please retake the exam. I got a letter last year saying I didn't get in because I didn't get an 800 on the CT.

Anyway, I recently went to the nursing dept and the lady in the front desk told me they'll let us know in the middle of July. I don't know if it's true or not, but it is quite late. They informed me in early July (around the 4th). It sucked, but I'm reapplying because I think I have a much better shot since I got an 860 on the CT.

From my experience, the cutoff for the generic seems to be a 3.5. I don't know if it'll go up this year, but that's what it was for the past 2 years. For the accelerated, it's a 3.8 GPA. The Hesi scores don't matter as long as you hit the minimum.

I hope I'm not scaring anyone with the "You have to get these scores", but I thought I had a chance last year since my GPA was pretty good. I don't want any of you guys to be disappointed you didn't get in because you got a 74 on anatomy.

What did you do differently to boost your score? Any books or resources? Critical thinking is what I'm most afraid of because there's absolutely no way to properly study for it.

I just looked at quizlet to be honest. I tried to follow the ABC's of nursing. Airway, Breathing, and Circulation. In my experience, they won't ask to triage airway, breathing, and circulation patients in a single problem, so you can cross off some answer choices that way. Remember, it's immediate problems first. If I have a patient with an infection or someone looking like he's choking, I'll go with the latter because he has a breathing problem.

I tried the HESI A2 book, but it has nothing on critical thinking. You can study for critical thinking. Don't think you can't. Just look on quizlet and questions from Critical thinking nursing books. It might cost some money, but they are generally helpful. Good luck.
