Cal State San Marcos ABSN spring 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to start a forum for anyone applying to the spring 2018 absn program at san marcos and see what you guys think/know about the program, whether or not you know if you have been accepted and what other programs you are looking into. I am applying to several in socal including csusm, fullerton, and cal state LA. My prenursing gpa is 4.0, last 60 units 3.8 and teas 94.7 as long as I finish the last prereq I need which is physiology with an A. I am taking it this summer and will be done with it by august so all I have to do is send over my updated transcripts. Is anyone else also completing prerequisites and around how many points do you have based on your evaluation. I'm calculating my points to be about 47 by the time I am finished with this last class so hopefully I'll be accepted. Looking forward to hearing from you all!

Hi grimm,

I was driving all over the county to get my transcripts in to the CSUSM extended learning office today. My Physio class ended last week and the grade just posted today! I believe the priority deadline is tomorrow (8/11) and they need all your transcripts in by the deadline to be considered for priority. If I am calculating correctly, I should have about 42 points total. The San Marcos campus would be ideal for me since I live in south San Diego. I am also considering National University in Rancho Bernardo. I really don't want to leave SD and if I don't get into these ABSN programs, I'd consider applying to the ADN programs as a back up.

I sent in my transcripts already although I have to resend them when my grades are posted as my class won't end until next week but I was informed that as long as they had all of my transcripts by the deadline even if all the prerequisites are not completed I would still be considered for priority acceptance. I actually sent everything in a couple of weeks ago and received an evaluation already although once my physio class is officially completed the evaluation will be updated with my new points total but I'm feeling pretty confident about getting into the program although I am still considering out of state options as they are shorter in length 12-15 months compared to San Marcos 24 month program.

How long did it take for them to turn around your evaluation? And did they mention anything about when they'd start sending out their decisions?

I got the evaluation within 2-3 weeks of sending in all my application materials. They didn't specify dates for when they start making decisions just that they won't start the process until after the august 11 deadline

Grimm,

Your scores and GPAs are excellent! Congratulations! I have received my evaluation but have not heard anything about acceptance to the program yet. I hope to hear by the end of the month or early September, but some people from the spring 2017 cohort did not hear until about 3 months after they applied. The waiting game has begun and it is the worst part.

Good luck!

Lindsey

I also received my evaluation for the spring 2018 cohort, I may push my app to summer because temecula is somewhat cheaper area to live in!

Hi everyone!

I applied on July 13th and they didn't receive my last transcript till August 3rd. I saw that some of you already got your evaluations so I called and they told me I probably won't hear back until mid-September/beginning of October but that I'm in the first wave of applications for Spring 2018. I'm so nervous! I hope we all hear back from them soon. Please share any new information if you come across anything! Good luck everyone!

Good luck to all of you as well! Just out of curiosity are you all from this area? I currently live in murrieta so Temecula would be closer for me but I don't particularly want to delay my start date as I would like to get through nursing school as quickly as possible.

I currently live in Oceanside, so San Marcos is much more convenient for me. With your evaluation score you should have no problem getting into any cohort that you want. I think the average score for last year's Spring cohort was 35ish.

I received my acceptance via email today. Good luck to everyone!

Hey I created a facebook group for those accepted to Cohort 30 it's "CSUSM ABSN Cohort 30"
