Cali New Grad options
Hey this post is for anyone who has happened to find a job straight out of nursing school in cali. I want to work in pediatrics eventually but am willing to start out in med/surg. I don't want to work in a nursing home or home health especially because from what I've seen you need acute care experience to find a job in a hospital in Cali. I am originally from socal but about to graduate from a nursing school in Indiana and I am honestly hesitant about moving back to cali because of the competition for new grad jobs in cali. I've had interviews in Oregon, Oklahoma and Texas but if someone has suggestions on certain hospitals I might find better luck with in cali I'd appreciate it. I've applied to the residencies but it seems they go with those who already have their license and. Anyways thanks for any advice!

Rady Children's New Grad RN Residency Summer 2019
I'm genuinely curious as to what led so many to the decision to move to California from another state without a job lined up when the job market in hospitals as a new grad is so difficult. I'm originally from cali but hesitant about moving back and risk having to settle for a nursing home job because I am set on working in a hospital and I've had better luck getting interviews from hospitals out of state. I could not imagine moving to a state with such a high cost of living without any security of finding a nursing job I actually want so kudos to you guys who are brave enough to risk it all for the chance of finding a job in cali

Rady Children's New Grad RN Residency Summer 2019
I know I am beginning to lose hope because it's already the end of the week and it seems so many people have heard back already. I'm originally from California but graduating from school in Indiana this month and I feel like not having my license already is going to hurt me and I was really counting on this residency to be able to come back to cali to work since it's so hard to get a hospital job outside of a residency

I haven't heard anything from PICU or hem/onc

Rady Children's New Grad RN Residency Summer 2019
I applied to Hem/Onc as my first choice and medical as my second. I am graduating in April from a nursing school in Indiana but I am originally from socal. I am hoping that I will be able to have my license transferred by the start date if I get accepted.

Roseman University ABSN Spring 2018
Well I applied to Henderson so I don't think I'm on the list for south jordan but I actually got into a school in Indiana that starts in January so I think I'm going to accept there rather than wait another six months

Roseman University ABSN Spring 2018
So Henderson is full and there will be no interviews held in Henderson this month or next month but there are still spots open in south jordan so interviews will continue this month as scheduled

Roseman University ABSN Spring 2018
I got a 94.7. I'm just bummed I didn't get my app in earlier bc I'm hoping there will still be open seats for Henderson

Roseman University ABSN Spring 2018
Has anyone on here been called for an October Interview date? I submitted my application late august so I didn't get a call for the september interview and am still waiting to hear. I tried contacting my advisor but am still waiting for a call back about my questions. I applied to Henderson and I'm just a little concerned because 54 seems like a pretty large number of applicant interviews.

Cal State San Marcos ABSN spring 2018
Good luck to all of you as well! Just out of curiosity are you all from this area? I currently live in murrieta so Temecula would be closer for me but I don't particularly want to delay my start date as I would like to get through nursing school as quickly as possible.

Cal State San Marcos ABSN spring 2018
I got the evaluation within 2-3 weeks of sending in all my application materials. They didn't specify dates for when they start making decisions just that they won't start the process until after the august 11 deadline

Cal State San Marcos ABSN spring 2018
I sent in my transcripts already although I have to resend them when my grades are posted as my class won't end until next week but I was informed that as long as they had all of my transcripts by the deadline even if all the prerequisites are not completed I would still be considered for priority acceptance. I actually sent everything in a couple of weeks ago and received an evaluation already although once my physio class is officially completed the evaluation will be updated with my new points total but I'm feeling pretty confident about getting into the program although I am still considering out of state options as they are shorter in length 12-15 months compared to San Marcos 24 month program.
