OCCC Nursing Fall 2017

U.S.A. Oklahoma

Published

Hi everyone!

I know this is a bit far away, but I am going to be applying to OCCC's traditional nursing program next fall. My preference points look like they will be right on the line of getting in. I wouldn't mind applying for the spring, but I want to get in as soon as I can lol. I was thinking about taking a CNA course to get that extra preference point. Does anyone know where I could go to get that done, and how much it costs/time it takes?

Thanks in advance!

She was annoyed when I said I was told 8 weeks. I'm super frustrated by the whole process right now!

You and me both!!! Its ridiculous! We need to know what to do! What if we didn't get accepted and now its too late to apply for something else. Im still thinking it won't be any later than next week. The BadNap people waited 9 weeks. I don't understand what takes so flipping long anyways.

Yep, the badnap people didn't find out until after it was too late to apply for fall.

Clair Echols, who is the academic adviser for the nursing/health, told me and a group of people during a nursing information session that physics, astronomy, zoology, etc, plus the regular science classes like chemistry, A&P 1 and 2, nutrition all counted towards the science points. The ones that don't count are the other "sciences" like psychology, sociology, etc.

Well today makes it 8 weeks since we turned in our Traditional Fall 2017 Nursing Applications. Having to wait these 8 weeks has been hard. I'm praying and crossing my fingers that we find out really soon if we got in. I'm taking Microbiology this summer and that's my last pre-req for the program. I applied with 19 preference points and a GPA of 3.86, so I'm feeling good that I'll get into the program. When you get your emails from admissions, post on here so we all know they sent out the emails.

I called yesterday at 6:30 pm and the admissions lady seemed confident we would hear today or Monday. Fingers crossed!

I am surprised they were still there at 6:30 since they close at 6, so that is promising. Hopefully they were there late working on our apps! I am so ready to find out. I applied with 17 pref. points and a 3.889, so I am hoping that gets me there. I am murphy's law, so I am scared that I did something wrong. I will not be completely relieved until classes start. lol

Yeah the way she sounded, she was someone doing the applications. She said to keep watching my OCCC email today or first of next week. It was relieving to talk to someone who actually sounded like they knew what was going on!

Just called admissions office and they said be patient because it'll probably be next week or the week after :(

Why do we all keep getting different stories??

I think we'll for sure get an email next week.

It all depends on who you talk to up there. Not everyone knows what is going on. Student workers almost ALWAYS answer the phone and they don't get clued in on the process. They get told a generic answer.
