OCCC Fall 2013 Admissions

U.S.A. Oklahoma

Published

Hello All!

I am currently getting my nursing school application together for OCCC's (Oklahoma City Community College) Traditional Pathway Nursing application deadline in April. I just wanted to put some feelers out to see who of you out there are also applying, and to see how we are all doing on our points. I have yet to take my TEAS test (I'll be taking it next week), and I am about to do clinicals to finish up my CNA (to get a preference point). If all goes well, I should be sitting at 18 points with a 3.27 GPA. I heard that the traditional pathway applicants for spring of 2012 had higher preference points, and GPA's than ever before. (DON'T Quote me, but I think it was something like 17 points, and a 3.3GPA) Regardless, it was higher than usual. The spring has, in the past, had less points required for admission than Fall. This was a little disconcerting to me, as I fear I am cutting it close. However, I have also heard that the BADNAP program, (which, in the past, has not even had enough applicants to fill its positions), has accepted applicants without all pre-requisites completed by the application deadline (as required in the past). This year, they are accepting applicants who will have pre-requisites completed before the start of the program. My hope is that this will ease up some tension on the traditional pathway applicants. Have any of you heard anything else? How are your points? What have you been doing to get extra points? Please feel free to share anything you may have struggled with about the process, and any support you would like to share. Good luck to us all!

I made a Facebook group: OCCC Nursing Class of May 2015

They took down the link, and I can't find it :( Add me? ZachandSylvia Pittman

I can only find OCCC Nursing Class of 2013 and 2014! Is it private?

It isn't letting me add you that way. Try typing the address manually to facebook dot com slash groups slash 112227412314499 slash

I hope that doesn't violate the terms of service since it is not a link. :-)

I sent you the link in a private message. I hope that works!

Hello All. I was alternate # 20 and was offered the 1+1 program.. I am going to pass on the 1+1 and just apply next semester after I pass my math for 2 more points ;) good luck to you all !!

Congrats to everyone that got in!! Im an alternate. I was just curious to see if anyone knows how many alternates usually get picked up. Or if anyone has talked to someone on campus about how many alternates have got in the last couple programs. I did get an invite to the 1+1 program also, but the times for the lpn programs are pretty excessive. Hopefully I get picked up, but if not, I will be going the 1+1 route.

@ koko the guy at occc said one time they took 23 alternates but then the time after that they took 12;( what alternate are you? I'm #20 and also got invited the 1+1 route but I will pass on that and wait and apply next semester ;)

Hey RN2BeInOKC, I'm alternate #8. I hope they take mid 20's again so many of us can get in. Good luck to you! If I don't get in, I have to go into the 1+1. I can't do the night program next semester, and I don't want to wait a year, so 1+1 will have to work. Not ideal, but owell.

One more thing, when is everyone that got accepted last day to accept/verify their acceptance? I figure that day is when most alternates that have a chance will get in.

Koko, we have to respond by May 8, but that won't mean much to alternates, most likely. I'm in the same position as you are with badnap. I am wait list #10, so I applied for fall and was accepted. This is what the man in admissions told me: Every single person accepted by the deadline. People start dropping out around the time of orientation. Either because they can't get finances, requirements in order, or they go a different direction. By orientation you will have had to spend a lot of money on vaccines, CPR class, background check, insurance, etc. He told me some people walk out of orientation and they immediately get on the phone and call alternates. He said they accept alternates up until the first day of classes. I hope I get in badnap so that I make another opening in the fall program for you! The fall orientation is in July. Good luck!
