OCCC BADNAP Class of 2011

U.S.A. Oklahoma

Published

Hey,

I was just checking to see who all will be attending the OCCC BADNAP program starting this June. If you are, let me know~:)

r1kk1,

I can't believe you said "binders", as in more than one 5 inch binder. That is crazy! I have a three inch binder of note from my anatomy class and I thought that is a lot of material. Are any of those books usable for the BADNAP classes? I am upset because one of the book's changed editions after I bought it, and it is too late to return. I am going to take it with me Friday and see if it will be okay to use.

I have heard many people on this website recommend nursing care plan books. I am too cheap and poor to buy one...but if I find that I need it later, I will have my husband order it for me.

I ordered my navy blue cherokee scrubs from the cherokee website, and I do not have a stitch on the arm to serve as a guide of where to place my patches. I am a little worried that I got the wrong scrubs as well. I will be the worry wart on Friday I guess.

Anyway, I also have been reading on allnurses that students are saying to be prepared and organized before classes even begin. I don't know where to begin getting organized. I don't know which topics are being covered in NURS 1519. I have 10 books required, but there is no way I can read them all in 8 weeks. I wish I had a syllabus or something to use as a guide.

So, as you can see, I am nervous. But, I feel if I have someone to talk to about nursing then I would feel a little better.

r1kk1, did your friend graduate from the BADNAP in Jan?

email me Val and I'll give you my phone number. You ask a lot of questions and it's easier to respond verbally since I'm nursing a broken finger.

take care,

r1kk1

no, traditional program. I'm currently looking for errata sheets from the publisher's to append to the books. Useful, have to weed out grammatical corrections, I just want to see what facts changed and will be incorporated into the next edition. I need to send emails to a couple of publisher's as their errata sheets are hard to find!

take care,

r1kk1

r1kk1,

Sorry about your finger...I did not know. Will it be healed by the end of June for clinicals?

As for the books you have, it sounds like a great way to save some money. You could look at my current editions of books if you'd like. You can see if there are any changes or make copies of some of it if you need.

I might need to take a look at your books too, Val. I'll be using my mom's from this last cycle, so I honestly hadn't even checked to see if any had changed. There were definitely some that she said she (and others) didn't even use and were pretty much a waste of money, but I can't recall which at the moment.

I'll work at combining the errata sheets from the publishers this week and maybe extend into next week. I'll post the links to the files when done. We are here for each other. BeeDubs, I got the same response from my friend Charlie. He said there were a few that he didn't even open. He said it was a waste.

see ya'll friday

Thanks for being so helpful r1kk1!

Hey all I'm a little nervous but so excited. Has anyone received word of financial aid? I get sub and unsub and as you all know, if you have a first Bachelor's then you are not eligible for any Pell Grants. I'm nervous b/c I haven't heard anything about money dispersement...any insight? I am not sure what I will be wearing but probably a headband with a feather and i have shoulder length blonde hair. i haven't been to the school to see the book requirements but i have lots of books from my last program *which i withdrew b/c this was faster* but honestly i rarely ever opened up books. I have a scope and standards book, a fundamentals of nursing, calculations of dosages, care plans, nutrition, med cards and drug book, and i would always recommend a mosbys medical dictionary although most everything can be utilized thru an app now... ne one know about financial aid tho?? my email [email protected] I am so excited I like study groups i love meeting new people but some study groups are good and some can get bad, i tend to learn from teaching and conceptualizing and audio learners are good partner for me. . .

Knevans2000,

You don't have to go to the bookstore to get the list of books. OCCC has a link, you select the class, and it shows required texts. I did it, and compared prices with amazon and other places to find the best deal.

I don't know anything about the financial aid...sorry.

BeeDubs, I don't think book requirements changed much. I bought my books in March (which much not have been updated for the new program), and only one book changed editions. I am going to do what r1kk1 recommended and get the publishers' update for it. You will probably be fine.

Should I bring my books tomorrow Will anyone benefit?
