  1. can anyone tell us what the first day of lab was like today? what can we expect? has anyone taken the NESA test yet?
  2. Hey all I'm a little nervous but so excited. Has anyone received word of financial aid? I get sub and unsub and as you all know, if you have a first Bachelor's then you are not eligible for any Pell Grants. I'm nervous b/c I haven't heard anything about money dispersement...any insight? I am not sure what I will be wearing but probably a headband with a feather and i have shoulder length blonde hair. i haven't been to the school to see the book requirements but i have lots of books from my last program *which i withdrew b/c this was faster* but honestly i rarely ever opened up books. I have a scope and standards book, a fundamentals of nursing, calculations of dosages, care plans, nutrition, med cards and drug book, and i would always recommend a mosbys medical dictionary although most everything can be utilized thru an app now... ne one know about financial aid tho?? my email [email protected] I am so excited I like study groups i love meeting new people but some study groups are good and some can get bad, i tend to learn from teaching and conceptualizing and audio learners are good partner for me. . .
  3. cool Beedubs, im a TOTAL nerd so I am all about school lol. Yes it was hard but somehow I kept my sanity. I tried to not seem too persistent so they wouldn't reject me b/c of bugging them hehe. Angie, I went to Northern Oklahoma College. I started the second semester, however, I receive a scholarship from physician's Manpower Commission *there is a matching an non-matching, make sure you check that out too for this program, they only disburse every semester, however, I am going to see if there is an exception b/c of how this program is structured and starts in June.., check it out though, if you agree to work in oklahoma after you graduate in a place other than a dr. office u can receive a matching- matched by the hospital of your choice- or non-matching which is $1000 every semester. The great thing is they make it out to you, not the school and it's to cover gas expenses to clinicals, or uniforms, or anything relating to nursing school ( I deemed the six pack I had to buy with it b/c of the stress from school a viable expense but not sure...JK :) Anywho, I started the second semester but dropped to save my financial aide for this semester. The program I was in was a traditional 2 year. My name is Kara by the way...:) Hello future classmates. Im so excited. FYI if you buy your uniforms somewhere( Im not sure if they offer them in bookstore or not) they are usually cheaper outside of bookstore and ALSO ask for a discount b/c they usually do for students. Where can I fax my clinical preferences to? Anyone have the number?
  4. Hey guys I told my family I was most likely accepted then Friday before spring break it was surprising to receive a denial letter bc my gpa was not high enough , I applied with a 3.2 so I was really distraught and couldn't get ahold of anyone until after spring break. There was a problem with the way records did my gpa and still figuring it out but after many tears and stress I received a call yesterday and signed my letter of acceptance. I'm so excited for these next ten months. I withdrew from the traditional 2 year program I was in to be in this one. I have one semester of nursing school under my belt so I'm pretty confident about this first class of basics however I am a bit nervous about the rest so that being said I like to meet people and am helpful and I'm so excited to see u guys in orientation. I always like to ask older students if the books required in class r absolutely necessary or not before I buy them bc for one nursing tests are not based on testing for content specifics- for example the normal specific gravity for urine is what- their questions are more testing ur responses in situations- for example, if u walk into a room and a patient is lying on the floor what is the nurses first intervention- in which case there are most likely 3 correct answers with one being the most correct. I'm sure this is nothing new to most of yall but I wanted to share some info and here to help and be helped as well. I'm really in nursing to be the best possible nurse and truly advocate for my patients. My email is [email protected] if anyone would like to get together or consult on our information just email me. They say u meet some of the bet friends for life in nursing school although that's not necessary it sure helps to have support in such an intense program. Look forward to meeting everyone!!!
  5. Wow. I hope this is true. I told my family. Should I try to call to confirm?...... So, hopefully, next thing is books... :)
  6. Oh you have no idea! What's even worse is that it will be mailed to my dad's address which is listed as permanent and we kind of don't get along very well right now so I'm hoping he would still tell me. I'm so stressed out. I put a lot on the line to be here and everyday is closer. So nervous...
  7. Pretty sure it said certified mail. I wonder if denial letters will be certified as well. I'm so nervous!
  8. BeeDubs, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! You made my day. I feel like I can finally breathe; I really took a leap of faith to be in this program. I have hope for us. That would be awesome if they would let even more people in, our chances would be even higher. Hope to see you in class. Please reply as soon as you receive a notice in the mail. I receive my mail seperately at my Dad's house so ...hopefully he would call me but I'm not sure. Once again, thank you.
  9. A Sanor, I called but have not gotten ahold of anyone. You need to call Mr. Seay in the admissions department. He will tell us how many have applied but not our ranking. When will we hear something? Does anyone know how many people applied?????
