Ohio LTC

U.S.A. Ohio

Hi all!

I am sooo excited to find this group! I will likely bounce between the Ohio group and the Geriatric groups.

May I ask how many of the Ohio Crew are part of the LTC Industry?

I am a moderator of a yhoo group for Ohio_LTC and can cross post info if it would be well recieved. I just don't want to be seen as flooding if the majority of folks are in another industry.

Hi Megs,

Welcome to the site. I'm no longer in LTC, however I worked LTC for 9 years as an LPN. I've been out of it for 2 1/2 years. I don't think I could go back. It's so hard. You guys that are still there deserve metals for your hard work.

What part of Ohio do you live in? I'm in SE.

Noney

I am an Admissions Nurse in LTC. I've been there for over nine years- and love it, most of the time :)

Hi Noney,

I'm in the Cincinnati area. I want to be clear that I'm not a nurse, I'm in the pharmacy side of LTC. I just wanted to point it out because I agree with you that the nurses deserve metals!

There are some CNAs that are so dedicated, loving and patient that they must be angels on earth. Unfortunately for the residents, there are more of the other kind than the angels lol

My company provides alot of education so if you'd like to see any special kind of seminars for CEUs let me know what would interest you guys!

Hi jenac, thanks for the reply!

How does your pharmacy give you pre-admission screening support?

I always like to ask, because there is alot of the "Me too." mentality out there. Some say yes, but when questioned further we find it isn't really there.

Some pharmacies take the guy at the pharmacy that is trying to get the deliveries out at the end of the day when all the admissions are coming in and he looks at an intake sheet and suggests generics then throws it back at you.

We take a different approach - it's removed from the local pharmacy. With our software and consultants we can give you recommendations for cost management, optimize clinically with evidence based medicine, and help you with identifying possible Ftags, QI indicator issues AND help you capture additional revenue on the MDS.

Sorry - i just get excited about this stuff lol I love my company and am proud of what we try to do for our customers and the residents.

Hi..i an debbie..I have been workinfg in LTC for the past 6 1/2 years. i am an RN.. i live is Se ohio...

I have wonderful pharmacy support. I generally call in the meds after my pre-admission assessment for the cost analysis, and fax over the Dr.orders for verification (and a heads-up for the when I accept the admission-that way they have it all ready with just a quick phone call) Our pharmasist makes any recommendations at that time. Deliveries are daily-but emergency deliveries have happened in the past. They are close by-so it's generally only minutes if it's an emergency.

They've been a lifesaver many times!
