Cincinnati Hospitals

U.S.A. Ohio

Published

I am considering a move to Cincinnati after I get my RN next May (07). What hospitals have a good working environment (decent ratios, pay, atmosphere, educational opportunities). I am interested in going into critical care and would love to start as a new grad, so one with a new grad program would be great.

What is Cincy like to live in? I am concerned about it being too conservative -- my political views lean to the left. Would I be a fish out of water there or are there enough civil disobedients around that I could find a community? My preference would be to live in the city, but my husband would want a nice cushy suburb. What are some of the more interesting 'burbs and what are houses priced at these days?

Thanks for any info you can add.

Cincinnati has 15 "Hill" communities (Bond Hill, College Hill, Crestview Hills, Greenhills, Indian Hill, North College Hill, Oak Hills, Paddock Hills, Park Hills, Price Hill, Seven Hills, Villa Hills, Walnut Hills, Western Hills and Winton Hills) and nine "Mount" communities (Mount Adams, Mount Airy, Mount Auburn, Mount Carmel, Mount Healthy, Mount Lookout, Mount Repose, Mount Washington and Mount Zion)

I just found this.. kinda intresting

good job!:nurse:

I came from Michigan and moved to Cincinnati because my husband started medical school at UC. I interviewed at Good Sam and at Children's for their NICU. Good Sam (TriHealth) actually offered me more money than Children's and there are a lot of different bonuses you can get. (there is a 12,000 bonus that I get over two years for working straight night shift.) Also, I got 1500 in relocation reinbursement. Which was awesome, because our move cost us less than 500 bucks total. We ended up in Pleasant Ridge which is near Oakley, but the cost of housing is a lot less there and a lot less than in Hyde Park. Also, if you interview somewhere ask your HR person about getting hooked up with a real estate agent, that's what we did and I was happy with that. :)

I am graduating in December and have accepted a job at Good Sam. they actually start at the same rate as University and one dollar less then mercy, and st.e. If you are looking for a cushy suburb you might want to consider moving to northern kentucky where property tax is much cheaper. i live in no ky and it takes me 20 minutes max to get to good sam/ university/ childrens. villa hills is nice but pricey. erlanger and florence are more reasonably priced
