Two wonderful deliveries, no Pitocin

Specialties Ob/Gyn

Hi Everyone,

Today was the first day, in my three short months of L&D, of not having the mom's on Pitocin. One woman went into labor on her own last night, and the other was a 42 week induction, however, the Cervidil did the job beautifully!

Both of the mom's were primips and pushed for about an hour each.

Thanks for listening! I just wanted to share the great day!

Don't you just LOVE when they come in REALLY in labor with no augmentation required!!!!! It's the amazing human body at its finest!!!!!

I'm so glad that you are enjoying L&D!! :)

I'm happy for you... sorry if I'm stealing your sunshine, but wow, three months and this is the first patient without Pitocin??? (and still had Cervidil at that).

OMG is that the norm where all of you work? I'm all for it when needed, & I know it's overused but that is worse than what I thought. Disheartening

No that is not the norm, many patients come in spontaneously laboring.

crazy... I can go 3 months without having a woman on pitocin at all...

That is so awesome!

I notice that you live in the Midwest, so I'm not surprised. In our L&D clinicals, most of the babies were C-sections. In three weeks, I didn't get to see a vag birth. :(

I haven't been in L&D for MANY years, but we rarely had anyone on Pitocin. We had LOTS of babies as we were a BIG Chicago Hospital!! I'm kind of shocked!!
