OMG what a week.......

I just got back Wednesday from a week off. It was a crazy, busy nutso sort of day. We started with 3 vents and 11 babies in the unit. Got 32 week twins and reintubated one of the other babies. Then they went back for the next section. Baby comes out fine they bring it into Well Nsy. The Dad starts crying and asks our NNP how his wife is. She goes to check and walks back into the OR to find the mother bleeding out and coding. They coded her for over 2 hours. In the end the OR looked like a slaughter house. We lost the mother to a amniotic embolus. Left work that night just sick and numb.

Walked back in Thursday to another of our unit babies coding. Big huge term baby that succumbed to sepsis. THen we get word from one of our Pediatricians that one of our unit grads from about a month ago came in that morning through the ER as a victim of SIDS. Family was living in the homeless Shelter.

And my Grandpa died at the first of the week.

I guess that is my proverbial 3. I sure hope so at least.

I just feel completely drained. I am so glad I got 2 days off to try and recoup before it starts again next week.

Boy I hate weeks like this.

OMG, honey....I don't know what to say. I'm so sorry about your Grandpa AND your horrible work week.

Not to sound freaky, but you know...I find that when I've totally had it and the weight of the world is on my shoulders, it comforts me to find a quiet spot to just cry, think, and PRAY. I pray to God for mercy and comfort for those around me, and for MYSELF.

i am soooo sorry for all your troubles. it was INDEED an awful week. My sincerest condolences about your grampa. i am truly sorry. it you need to chat, catch me on yahoo messenger and i am happy to be here for you. you were certainly there for ME back when i needed it!
