Any new grad need a mentor

I am a high risk antepartum RN that has been working in a level 3 facility for the past 5 years. I am offering to be available for any new grads or anyone new to Antepartum to mentor Any takers?

Hi.

Today i just registered at Allnurses.com and I really want to take advantage of your offer. To tell you the truth, I am only 21 years old. I currently work for an attorney and i really don't want to be a legal secretary for the rest of my life. I feel that this job doesn't give me the fullfillment that i need.

The moment that i witnessed my cousin being born, I knew that I wanted to be a RN to help bring babies to this world. I am going to register at my local community college to get my pre-requisits. Right now I feel very intimidated. I think what if i am not fit to be a nurse. You may think that its a total self confidence issue but i would really like to know how did you realize that this career path was really for you.. Did you ever fill intimidated on the processes of becoming one? I would really like to know how it is in the viewpoint of a person with experience.

actually for as long as I can remember I wanted to be a nurse. I even was a volunteer at a hospital (I would suggest that if you have time) granted I know time is a luxery that not a lot of people have. There are a few things I can say about nursing. There are not too many jobs where you can graduate and make 20.00 dollars an hour (ranges depending on which state you live) you will ALWAYS have a job SOMWHERE. There is so much you can do once you are a nurse. Bedside care, office job, school nurse, nursing instructor. if you get sick of what you are dong you can always go somewhere else even if it is in a diffrent department for instance from ER to Peds. There is huge satisfaction when I go home, knowing I have done a good job. I am here to support you anything you need even if it is just a shoulder to cry on I am here.

Hey that is great!! How many can you handle?? I am sure there will be plenty of takers. I am currently in OB & just about to start my L&D rotation. I would love to have someone like you to be able to talk to & ask questions. I am a little nervous about the whole thing as we have not covered L&D yet, I am reading my textbook & trying to learn what I can from that.We have had 3 lectures in OB & I am green as a gourd!! Thanks so much, CRB

well this is a new thing for me to, so we'll see how it goes. Anyone can E-mail me I will respond. If i don't know the answer I will find out. Every nurse needs support and I will try my best to give that.

I am starting my pre-reqs also this summer and it would be nice to have to someone to talk to. I am 20 years old and I have a 2 1/2 son...who is the reason for everything I do. I am pretty nervous, I have been to another community college and it didn't stick with it and I also started a medical assisting program and didn't finish. So right now I am trying to stick with doing my pre-reqs and not giving up at this new school.

I would love to take advantage. I graduated last May, so I still consider myself to be new to the profession!

Everyone is green when they start: even those seasoned nurses who come into OB after many years in a differnt specialty. It's okay to be green. We were all there when we first started.

There is only so much time to cover each specialty in school :less than there used to be, in my opinion. Just go with the flow and let your instructor take the lead. Be available to get as much experience as you can and see as many different procedures/ experiences as you can. Just be ready to learn: that's all you can do. You'll be fine.

Never lose the love of learning something new. That's what keeps us fresh.
