Do I have a chance? Please help.. about UK NMC application

I hope you can give me an idea whether I will pursue applying for NMC registration.

I finished my BS Nursing degree in the Philippines in 1995 after 4 years in college. But after graduating from school, I managed to get a job in a an electronic company. It was very hard to find a nursing job that time. Although I havent lost interest in my degree, time passed me by and I stayed with the same job for almost 13 years or so.. it paid the bills.

In May 2010, I tried applying for a job in the hospital after being laid off work. Luckily I got the job as a ward nurse and now I am working in a Recovery room for almost a year which gave me more than 2 years experience in nursing.

My sister now lives in the UK and advised me to apply for NMC registration. She will shoulder all expenses if I can pass it.

My question is: with a big gap in my work experience, do i have a chance to get registered or the gap will go against my application?

Any help is very much appreciated.

The gap shouldn't make a difference to the NMC provided you have the requisite experience; potential employers may ask about it, though.

You don't need to sit for an exam to work in the UK. During my time (2002), IELTS wasn't required either. I applied then got the approval to start as a Supervised Practice Nurse (C grade). I worked for the NHS. They had the grading system then. After 3 months I became a regular staff (D grade). Advanced to charge nurse ( E grade) after 2 years. Offered a promotion but decided to leave for the states. I loved working in the UK. I miss the people but I don't miss the weather : D

I think the process was revised fairly recently; at any rate, yes, you do have to take the IELTS now if you're applying from outside the EU.

Yes we have to score IELTS 7 in each band and minimum of 7 in overall band. The hardest thing is IELTS, Thanks GOD I got it.
