Tattoos and nursing

To help with a school project. I would like to know everyone's opinion on nurses being able to show their tattoos in the work place. Thank you in advance !

I work in the VA so we have lots of former military nurses so tons of tats, strange hair styles/colors, etc.

As a patient it never has bothered me, but then again I like tattoos. Then again some people still equate tattoos with uncleanliness, etc..

Trust me if I was tatted out I would be wearing a shirt to cover all my tats at an interview. Some facilities I have been at require all tattoos below the elbow to be covered and hair styles,colors, etc. be in good taste.

There have been threads about this before. To save time for yourself, I would utilize the search option and type in "tattoos" or something of the like. It should bring you to previous posts with a variety of opinions on the issue. Good luck!

I don't have a problem with it. Nurses are allowed to have tats visible where I work and it's never been as issue.

It largely depends on the clientele and culture, age, etc, of the patients you're dealing with IMO. I don't know for sure, but a 95 year old little lady may not appreciate tattoos in excess, but a young dude would probably think they're cool. So it depends.
