methods for narrowing down the answers

Hi Everyone:

I was hoping to get some feedback on answering questions on exams. Is there a certain method? I can narrow my answers down to the last two questions that "seem" like they both apply to the question - but it appears I pick the wrong one. Is there a method of breaking the answers down to get the right one. I should always look for the ABCD answer, then safety is there anything else I'm missing besides narrowing down the absolute terms. Not sure why I tend to pick the wrong ones.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

In multichoice, I always opted for the one choice that jumped out at me. You can eliminate others because while they might sound right and be applicable to some areas, there are others that cover all the bases. Go for the definites. Sometimes they just throw in red herrings to confuse you. Luckily I did okay on multichoice. I used to do a lot of practice with NClex and also brainbench. Don't laugh but I used to really enjoy those sessions, full of multi-choice questions because it relaxed me. (I don't know if they still have brainbench). Hope that helps a bit.

I was taught first assess ABC's, then safety, then infection, then nutritional status, then psycho/social integrity. As far as hierachy of needs. Hope this helps. Dont fall for respiratory status as always being the correct answer; however it is often. Just make sure u critically think through every question. Good Luck and i hope this helps.
